I just bought a 1993 Acura Vigor GS for $2000.00. I am a bit worried about my purchase because it has 270,000k on it. I drive and expedition and wanted a gas saver. It was parked since 2005 however it runs great. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do to improve the life?

First off - I parked the Nissan and now am driving the Vig again. What a joy - what else can I say.
Buying this classic for 2 G's is good - no it's great! The engine light coming on could mean numerous things like O2 sensor, throttle sensor, block fuel filter, etc. If you want to keep your Vig running and in great shape please have this scanned. It may be something small - let's hope. Spend the bucks and get it done.
If you are looking for a car that is easy on gas then don't buy the Vig. As I mentioned earlier in my writings I never worried about this. I knew when I bought the car that gas savings for this car just won't happen. Buy yourself a VW or something like that instead. Don't worry about saving money on gas. This is a Vigor my friend. Use only synthetic oil. Use only premium gas (or you'll wind up with an ugly case of knock). Do ALL the routine maintenance and you will have a car that will last you for years to come. I know of a 1992 Vigor that was bought brand new in 1992. The guy still has it and he now has over 800,000 km. on it - fantastic engine!
This is a classic - treat it like it must be treated.

I just bought a 94 Vigor GS for 800; it's got a few dings but overall in good shape. Just had the clutch replaced and about to replace the fuel pump and going to overhaul the engine this summer, so overall it seems like I got my moneys worth considering I only paid 800 for it.

I am still running my '93 Vig. Fall is soon approaching and that means I'll be parking it for the long, cold winter we have here and getting back into the Pathfinder. I have 193,000 km. on the Vig and intend on having it for many more years. No leaks or squeaks - still very tight and still loving it. What a great machine!

My Vigor is now safely tucked away for the long and cold winters that we have here, and it's back to the Pathfinder. I look forward to driving the Vig again in the Spring of 2009. Believe it or not, I am entertaining the thought of installing a supercharger. Pretty crazy I know. I'll let you know what I decide in the Spring. Have a great winter.

I just bought a 93 Vigor and it seems to be running good. My temperature gauge is not working. Any suggestions?

I shall not be reporting any longer on my Vigor - I sold it (to my son) and bought a Lexus SUV. I loved my Vig and have assurances from my son that he will take good care of it. I get to see it once in a while but will not ride in it anymore - just can't bring myself to sit in it. I sold it because "it was time".
Bye and thanks for reading.

Hey... I'm back! Just a couple of comments... The Vig is still in the family. It now has well over 200K and runs like a charm. Unfortunately my son had to take it into a grove of trees while attempting to avoid some deer on the highway. The windshield got cracked (from the inside!! - my son is OK) and both doors got kind of big-time scratched up. However, the Vig still runs like a charm! I know... I keep on saying it - You've got to love this car!!

The Vig is fixed, and is sitting cozy and warm in a heated garage, under a breathable tarp, just waiting to be released again in the Spring. Still looking great and running like a charm!

The Vig is now sitting in the garage waiting for our long, cold Canadian winter to end. She is all tarped up, waxed and spotless. It's back to the Nissan Pathfinder for the next few months. Have a great winter.
