1995 Audi 90 CS quattro sport 2.8 AFC from North America

Summary:

4 seater snowmobile

Faults:

Bought the car in November of 2011 with 165k on it as a "winter beater" after reading that the galvanized body Audi's come with could withstand the New England winters; mainly the salt that comes with them.

The original "AAH" engine was still in the car when I purchased it, and after doing some work (wheel bearings and exhaust work) getting it inspected and driving it daily, I noticed that it would leak oil till it sat at 2 quarts and stay there 20 miles after bringing it up to 5 quarts... the steep hills took what little oil was left in the pan and put it far away from the pick up. A few months of this, and that was the end of the AAH. I then picked up an AFC out of a 96 A4 with 67k on it, put some work into it, and took my time installing that, finding differences along the way and addressing them.

General Comments:

Before the original engine was done, I did manage to have reliable transportation for a few months, during which I tested the AWD in some good snow, and put the car through its paces in the twisties and a good 120mph stint on a closed course (obviously). The car felt like a brick in all conditions, and stuck to the road. Acceleration is decent with the 5 speed.

Climate control works well, although it sometimes decides to ignore input.

Original speakers sound decent. Can't comment on OEM deck, however because the previous owner put in a nice one... at one point I thought the original speakers were blown due to a buzzing noise with heavy bass, however it was simply the cover.

I'd say a nice solid vehicle as long as the engine has been updated.

1995 Audi 90 QUATTRO SPORT 2.8 from North America

Summary:

Quattrophenia!

Faults:

Replaced Oxygen Sensors, BOSH

Replaced Radio with original, Blaukpunkt

Replaced Radio Antenna, original was rusted.

Alignment on front right tire, pot hole.

General Comments:

An overall quick, comfortable, safe, sporty sedan car. Extremely predictable in bad weather, one of the safest ones out there. Ideal for country roads, where outshines front and rear wheel drives at ease, due to the Quattro.

1995 Audi 90 Quattro 2.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

One of the best cars on the road ever!!!

Faults:

So far the only thing that has needed to be replaced is the timming belt. If you are in the market for an Audi here is a little hint, "The repairs are very expensive."

General Comments:

For a car that was manufactured in the mid 90's it has many modern features that you would see in a newer luxury car.

It has been a very dependable car so far, but very expensive to run. I also found that if you take the govornor off, it will do the whole 160 MPH on the speedometer. I have had it at 115 MPH in fourth gear at 6000 RPM, and it will rev out to 8000 RPM. So with this car you get reliabilty, speed, and a roomy interior!!

Also a nice thing about my Audi is the Quattro, which means all wheel drive, which comes in handy in the snow, as well as taking some pretty mean curves at some speeds a rear wheel drive muscle car would never dream of, and when you actually keep you foot off the pedal, it actually can get up to 30 MPG on the highway. Which is awesome after trading my Camaro z28 in on my Audi!!!

1995 Audi 90 2.6L V6 from North America

Summary:

Great aggressive family car!

Faults:

Sunroof is slightly out of alignment when fully closed. (it doesn't leak though)

Steering mechanism makes horrific sounds on cool/cold days in low gears.

Cruise control doesn't work.

My driving habits require me to fill the tank every 4 days with premium fuel. (this gets expensive!)

General Comments:

A beautifully crafted 4-door automobile. The Germans wrote the book on spartan interiors with 100% function.

I commute 120 miles per day at 70-85 miles/hr with no problems whatsoever. This car passes any other on the highway easily, and has never let me down when I need the ABS to kick in.

I have 2 car/booster seats in the back and they fit perfectly with room to spare.

The smoothest manual transmission I have ever used.

A truly wonderful machine to drive.

1995 Audi 90 Std 2.7 12V V-6 from North America

Faults:

So far, nothing. I bought the car at 62k miles, so it needs a major service, which involves a new timing belt, water pump, etc. A costly repair indeed, but well worth it considering the costs if you let it go. I need a few minor areas fixed, but otherwise, the car is pristine and looks nearly new.

General Comments:

I have owned several premium automobiles, and this is definitely my favorite. Off the line, the car is a little sluggish, but once up to speed it really shines. Fit and finish, quality of materials is second to none. The heated seats are a god-send. The liberal use of wood really warms up the atmosphere as well. Trunk space is generous. Overall, an exceptionally comfortable car, and the handling is excellent. I strongly recommend this car.
