2002 Audi A6 SE 1.9 TDI from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Executive luxury, great performance and money well spent!

Faults:

Nothing as of yet.

General Comments:

This is my second Audi now & this car is absolutely amazing, the turbo really makes a huge difference to the diesel engine and I can outperform many petrol cars now.

The SE trim & interior have turned this into an executive car with full natural leather seats that are extremely comfortable.

The engine itself is a joy to listen to and I feel there is a big difference compared to the older diesel engines.

There is very little noise inside the cabin and the ride quality is extremely smooth.

The dealer salesman I dealt with was extremely helpful and customer focused - never at one moment did he try and push me into buying, top marks for my local dealership!

Audi have created a superb car, I really feel my money has been wisely spent!

Just an update on this car, still going now done just over 50,000 miles. Rear electric windows have had faults, but the dealership promptly fixed these under warranty. This did mean they needed the car for a day, but they quickly sorted my out with a 2005 Audi A4 2.0 TDI 6 speed transmission courtesy car - maybe I should write a review on that also - all I could say was wow at the performance, but no where near as comfortable as the A6.

The car is still running very smoothly, awesome to to commute in as it is so comfortable - I do at least 100 miles per day commuting to and from work.

Fuel economy - the car is averaging at least 55 - 60 miles per gallon, which in my opinion is fantastic.

Any thinking of purchasing a 2002+ Audi A6 1.9/2.0 TDI - my advice is go for it, it is indeed a fantastic car to drive.

2002 Audi A6 allroad 2.7 turbo from North America

Summary:

Do not buy the allroad

Faults:

The front & rear brake rotors, disc's and pads had to be replaced at the first 10K mile service.

The front rotors, disc's and pads had to be replaced again at the second scheduled service at 20K miles.

The "specialty" tires had to be replaced at 17K miles for over $1,000.

Water pump failed during the summer at 8K miles.

The turbo surged when driving uphill.

The wheels vibrated (twin spoke rims) if any snow or debris got in them.

The CD player volume would change at random.

General Comments:

The allroad is a fast, fun car to drive and it looks nice. It's too bad it has so many engineering flaws.

The car did not meet my expectations of a $49K car. I sold it.

This was my first and last Audi!

2002 Audi A6 Quattro 3.0 from North America

Summary:

Refined Touring Sedan

Faults:

Brakes squeal. It was taken to the dealer and it is still making the noise when braking at low speeds. Also, the window seals seem to be a little tight for the windows. When it is humid, the windows have a difficult time going up (not with the greatest of ease).

General Comments:

Other than a few minor problems I still have my fingers crossed while I watch the km roll by. This is a great touring machine. It is not that great off the block, but who really pins a car like this 0-100km/h? Where this car rocks is on the highway at driving speeds. The car is smooth and silky, and the cabin is the most refined of all the German sedans (simple and cohesive lines and styling).

Living in Northern Canada I get to test out the Quattro and stability program in the winter. It is an amazing car in the winter. I live down snow packed roads for a major part of the year (that means packed ice!). The traction is amazing, you would never know you were on ice. Furthermore, the Quattro is also amazing on dry pavement and the steering is very communicative in all conditions.

Gas is not cheap and it likes to drink. However, the A6 is not that far below the others in its class for fuel consumption. Considering it has full time Quattro the fuel consumption is not that bad!

Bose stereo is good, but could be a little better! Rear seat heaters a plus!

The design is not so good in pictures, but in the flesh the car is beautiful. It is more refined than others while still turning heads.

Come and live in the UK and then you can moan about expensive fuel prices.

I've never had problems with thinking it was bad on fuel. But then again I do not drive a lot with it and my other car is a Dodge Durango. The price difference is in the fact that the Audi takes premium fuel.

I AGREE!!! I live in Michigan and my car was a total dream when we had ice and snow all over the place, and car after car was veering into ditches or having to drive at 10mph.

2002 Audi A6 3.0 3.,0 from North America

Summary:

This car represents understated elegance with the highest technology.

Faults:

Gas gauge needed repair shortly after delivery of car.

General Comments:

My family has a "1998 2.8 quattro A4" and a "2002 3.0 quattro A6" now.

I somewhat resented the A6 at the beginning because the A4 was, and still is such a great car and I disliked the A6 rear styling treatment.

Both of these cars, however, beat everything I have ever owned before by a wide margin (1 "Volvo", 3 "Cadillacs", 2 "Firebirds", 1 "BMW tii", 2 "VW Sciroccos", 4 "Honda Preludes").
