2000 Audi TT Quattro 1.8 T from North America
Summary:
Life is unpredictable - have fun driving- try an Audi
Faults:
Before I purchased this vehicle I knew it had some kind of issue because the computer (Electronic Control Module) was severly messed up and the dealer asked me if New York State had emissions testing? (I was buying this car out of state). I did not probe into why he asked this question. I took the car for a test drive and everything steering, brakes, and heated seats felt perfect. I bought the car and took it home to give it a second life at 107,000.
First few months of ownership- timing belt, water pump, belt replaced 107,700 miles.
Electronic Control Module was fixed to pass inspection. I was told someone put "NeuSpeed" in car and this caused the fault problems to the main computer.
General Comments:
I love my new car. It is roomy enough for one person. Two person maximum.
Heated seats are a must for anyone with lower back problems.
I drive this car daily and for my job out in the field. I have taken this car off-roading (for my job) unfortunately, with the low ground clearance of only four inches one is also going to bottom out, bruise/scrape the belly pan and cracking of the front bumper is going to be a sad end result.
But the car runs great. Low maintenance versus my last car. Don't let your repair shop sell you unnecessary services! oil changes every 5k. Car gets snow tires for the winter season and we can drive anywhere like having a sport utility vehicle except off roading is not recommended unless you have to for your job!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Good work old chap. To drive 5000 km in three years and destroy 3 turbos is really an achievement. In my opinion, the fault is not in the car (I own one with 130000 km and no turbo problems, and I know three other owners (no problem) but with the driver which does not know how to treat a turbo car...
