2002 Buick Rendezvous CX 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

I would not recommend this vehicle to others.

Faults:

Replaced body control module cost $1000

Replaced compressor $700

Replaced condenser $766

Replaced bad brakes $800

Replaced head gasket $1000

A/C still doesn't work.

General Comments:

Car handles well; not bumpy like big sport utility vehicles. Can haul up to 3500 lbs. Car would not be so bad if major things would stop going wrong.

2002 Buick Rendezvous from North America

Summary:

Giving this car a chance..

Faults:

Our family has owned nothing, but Nissan for the past 10 years or so. Well, hubby traded in our Maxima for the Nissan 350, then I decided to trade in our Altima. Being a family of 6, we definitely need a larger vehicle. I went to the Nissan, test drove the Murano, which was too small for us, then I saw the Rendezvous. Great! 3 row seating, nice interior and low miles (44,000).

I regret that I didn't research this car until it was too late. I haven't had any problems out of the car yet, but I fear it is coming. Lately, I've been looking on some websites just to see how reviews have been about this car and I'm frightened. The other day I noticed the temp gauge was above normal. I do live up on a hill, and after going up the hill is when I notice it starts to flutter above normal.

However, the reviews on this car doesn't give me peace of mind. I have a trip to VA in the next couple of weeks, an 8 hour drive, and I'm hoping this car doesn't put me out on the side of the road. I did get the warranty from the dealership. I'm going to take it in and have them look at it before I take off. I'll be praying all the way down.

I have the same issue with my Rendezvous 2002. I had it to the dealer last summer, and they changed out the temperature gauge. It has now started doing it again (in the warmer weather), and I was advised that nothing is wrong with the car, but I found information that is pretty interesting and should be considered:

"Engine temperature: The engine may get close to overheating (and the gauge will read high) in hot weather requiring reprogramming the powertrain computer to run the cooling fan more often."

I will be following up with this with my car dealer. Interesting that it only occurs in warm weather. Good luck.

2002 Buick Rendezvous CXL 3.8 from North America

Summary:

Not good

Faults:

Head gasket blew at 58,000 miles. Air conditioning condenser needed to be replaced at 45,000 miles. Wheel Bering went within 3 months of buying the car. Gas gauge suddenly read empty when we had a full tank. At the present time, the car makes noises when steering, which is being looked at this week. Electrical problems.

General Comments:

I loved this car when we first bought it, but it has quickly become nothing, but a money pit. I regret buying this car. Whenever I drive it someplace I am always wondering in the back of my mind if I am going to make it to my destination!

2002 Buick Rendezvous CX from North America

Summary:

Don't buy GM

Faults:

Bought a new 2002 Rendezvous in July 2001 – So Far – replaced the A/C (under warranty), replaced 2 front wheel rotors (Reimbursed by Buick), Paint is bubbling on the hood, fake chrome is peeling of the hood, Fuel gauge always says full and I add a gallon of coolant per month. I brought the car into Buick today to get the Fuel gauge (requires dropping the tank $570.00) and the coolant leak (lower gasket $1420) repaired. I was told I also need new wiper blades $36 – Nice to know they are thinking of me. P.S. My other car is a 1998 CRV – tune it up every 3 years change the oil every 3k – never had a problem. No wonder GM is no longer #1.
