1989 Buick Skylark Custom 2.5L Tech4 from North America

Summary:

Why can't all cars be like this today.

Faults:

The car needed a complete tune-up.

(Car would not start or run right in damp weather)

Stereo would not function correctly. (Buttons would stick or not work)

Radiator fan motor went at approx. 51000 miles.

Passenger side door lock sticks.

Dash lights are dim/fading.

General Comments:

For a 4 cylinder engine, this car really has the get up and go, without being a complete gas hog. The seats are comfortable as can be and the sound system is awesome. The car turns on a dime & rides like a dream.

I owned a car like this one, a 4 door with 112,000 miles on it and I put in only oil, gas, tires and alignments on it. Until a school bus pulled out in front of me at 140,000 miles on it, and it only crushed the front to the windshield and I was doing 50 mph!!!

1989 Buick Skylark Custom 2-DR 3.1 V6 from North America

Summary:

Deal of the decade

Faults:

The brake lines need replacement.

The car stalled twice in the first week. But I think that was due to old gas. The car had been sitting covered for 8 months prior to my ownership.

That's it!

General Comments:

2DR beauty. White exterior with plush maroon interior.

I came into an absolutely amazing deal with this Buick. Estate sale by brother in law. Only $CAN 2100.

Mint condition with fairly low kilometres for a 16 year old car.

The previous owner (2nd) ran the auto shop for a Canadian Tire and it was his baby.

There is nothing wrong with it at all.

Came with: New tire, new brakes, new muffler. Basically, the average things that can go wrong on a $2,000 car are all fixed.

Just took it in for an oil change and the shop could not believe how clean the undercarriage and motor was.

Perfect and so different than the new bubble cars that every company is making these days. I mean, even Volvo abandoned the crisp square lines.

I have the same car with same exterior and interior color and let me tell ya... even though it has the Tech4 2.5l engine... it's still got some power. The car rides nice, looks sweet, and requires very little maintenance. One word of advice however; keep the body in good shape! Once it starts rusting out, it spreads like wildfire.

I believe in 1989 this car would have had the 3.3 liter v-6, not the 3.1 litre. The 3.3 or 3300 was a 90 degree v6 based on the 3.8, one of GMs best engines in the late 80's and early 90s. Be happy you had the 3.3, the 3.1 wasn't nearly as reliable, due to various unforutunate modernizations.
