1991 Cadillac DeVille 4.9 from North America

Summary:

Awesome

Faults:

Needs A/C serviced and new rear shocks...

General Comments:

This is one of the finest autos I have owned. She is in great shape, and looks good too. Rides like a dream. Best 1300.00 bucks I spent on a car.

And good on gas; 25mpg or better...

With only a 135,000 miles on her, she's still got a long life with me and my family.

1991 Cadillac DeVille Sedan 4.9 liter from North America

Summary:

Cadillac is a quality built vehicle

Faults:

The air condition compressor was replaced at 210,000 miles. The front end suspension parts have been replaced at 220,000 miles. Two fuel injectors have been replaced.

General Comments:

I have been impressed with the Cadillac Sedan Deville.

The Leather seats and interior trim still looks great and is easy to clean.

The carpeting still looks great.

The exterior paint and clear coat is excellent.

I like the highway performance and gas mileage. Highway mileage has been 21 - 29 miles per gallon. City driving 17 miles per gallon.

The car is quiet and dependable.

I would buy another Cadillac.

Very positive for a car this age. Good to know that Cadillac vehicles achieve this high mileage and miles per gallon with few repairs. It's cheaper than new car payments.

1991 Cadillac DeVille Sedan 4.9L. V8 from North America

Summary:

I couldn't ask for a better car for my money

Faults:

The water pump was bad when I bought the car and was making a lot of noise. When I had this replaced, the engine was as quiet as a whisper.

The only thing I've had go wrong was the idle: whenever the battery is disconnected it messes up the idle. This had to be relearned at the dealer, even though the car is supposed to reset its self. A bit of an annoyance.

Air conditioner needs to be recharged.

Suspension is getting weak, mostly in the rear.

General Comments:

I had a tune up shortly after purchase to the tune of $425, but that was the most expensive thing I've had done, so far.

Every now and then when I turn the key nothing happens, so I expect to need a new starter here in not-too-distant future. I don't look forward to that because it means disconnecting the battery, which will upset the idle, and then the idle will need to be relearned.

Looks beautiful for it's age. People have trouble believing that the car is 13 years old.

I'm very impressed with the all the interior room. I'm 6 foot tall and can sit very comfortably in the back seat with the front seats all the way back.

Over all, I love this car. I would buy another one just like it in an instant, though I'd prefer a newer model for reasons of looks and handling.

Excellent car, either for a long trip or just a quick run across town.

1991 Cadillac DeVille SEdan 4.3 or 4.9 from North America

Summary:

Excellent Ride QUIET Strong Solid Well Built

Faults:

I picked up a 91 Cadillac Sedan De ville from a dealer for 4K (I know a little too high). The gas pedal bounced a lot at starting and it bounced bout 50 times when I shut it off. I bought a idle control motor off Ebay for $18 (otherwise 120 at car parts store or similar). Cured the problem. Just bounces once or twice on start up (I think it just puts a couple squirt of fuel in the carburetor). KEEP the screw (shaft) that comes out your old IDLE motor as you will need it to put on the new one. (this way you won't have to reset you idle. Use good fuel. NOT 87 octane. The transmission fluid was 1 qt low (no leaks anywhere - just never been checked. NICE RIDE - its maroon - I will get it repainted to look like a newer model -its maroon - tan interior.

Make sure you get the transmission serviced. Have it done right. A rebuild will be very costly if you don't attend to this.
