2000 Cadillac DeVille from North America
Summary:
I'd buy another one, but a newer model with way less miles!
Faults:
My husband recently purchased for me a 2000 Deville... EVERYTHING that can go wrong, WILL go wrong!! I love the car to death, but it definitely can be a hassle. I have approximately 130,000 miles or so on it.
FIRST - I read a past post from Dec '08 where the windshield wipers had a mind of their own. Mine did the same... checked fuses, pulled them out, the whole nine. Still was a problem, but my husband ended up putting a stereo system in the car, so somehow wires got crossed/uncrossed and now it works... go figure! (And for this, I have dubbed her the name "Creepy Caddy")
SECOND - When I put on my right turn signal (with headlights ON) my high beams come on. Don't know why it does this, and I still haven't fixed it.
THIRD - I read about 293 posts about VIBRATION... yeah same here... I learned to live with it LOL.
FOURTH- Is your Caddy cutting out at low speeds or stops?? Not cranking immediately? CRANK SHAFT SENSORS! I'm getting them replaced as I type...
FIFTH- Air Bag light is on... so is traction control and Check Engine... makes my dash look animated :)
General Comments:
The list of problems could go on all day, but overall the ride is SMOOTH AND LUXURIOUS! I am a woman of domestic cars, this by far has the best ride and comfort.
Bottom line... the car LOOKS GREAT, but looks can be deceiving. If you got the money and time to invest in repairs, go for it. If you're cheap... please look the other way :)
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Just have the dealership change the antifreeze once per year and have the transmission serviced when necessary. It should last between 150k and 200k. Don't let a quick lube or regular repair shop service any part of the cooling system. They won't add the block seal this car requires and your engine will be ruined.
