2001 Cadillac DeVille DTS from North America

Summary:

It would be nice if I could drive it

Faults:

Well I just got this car from a friend of mine, and a few things that I know.

The seat is messed up and you can't move it back, but so far, or you can't move it back forward.

I'm having problems with the battery not having enough charge to actually start the car.

It has a leak in the oil pan also.

General Comments:

I love this car, but so far it's giving me nothing, but hassle, and I haven't even been able to drive it yet.

2001 Cadillac DeVille from North America

Summary:

Unreliable

Faults:

I have a 2001 Deville with 37000 miles. I still have the original battery. Last week I had AAA jump start the car and I brought it in for service. The battery had ruptured and eaten a 4 inch hole under the rear seat where it is installed. Repair cost will be about $1300 and Cadillac says--too bad. This is my fifth and last Cadillac.

General Comments:

I like the car, but Cadillac service has been unreliable. There is obviously a flaw in the design. Cadillac has a repair kit for the problem. I bought a Cadillac for superior service and driveability. I expected Cadillac to be more responsible in this situation.

How can you say the car is "unreliable"? You had one problem with the car. Yes it was very expensive, but that does not qualify the car as unreliable. Maybe "poor design" or "flawed". An unreliable vehicle is one that has many problems and the owner might be afraid to drive long distances with it. Seems as if you are bitter because Cadillac didn't rule in your favor.

Could this be yet another unhappy customer looking for a "lifetime warranty"???

I have a 2001 Cadillac DeVille, and I must say it's a pretty amazing car and don't have any problems with it. I got it from a buy here, pay here, so to me it just sounds like a picky person. I don't care how new or old the car is, people are going to have a repair at some point! It could have been anything that caused your battery to do that, so who's to say it wasn't an error that you made. But anyway I'm going to go cruise in my Caddy! Peace.

2001 Cadillac DeVille DTS 4.6 from North America

Summary:

A quality disappointment

Faults:

Main engine seals/gaskets began leaking at 45,000 miles.

Two power window lift motor's have failed.

Vehicle suspension vibrates at speeds in the 65-75 MPH range.

General Comments:

I have been totally disappointed with this car, I have owned many cars over the years and have never landed such an obvious lemon. I have been in self denial that my car could be engineered so poorly, but I am now convinced after reading the many owner reports from across the country. I was wrong to think purchasing a fairly late model used American luxury sedan before a foreign auto to be the right purchase with my money. Buying American was the wrong decision! the Total Quality failed, I am now looking to get out of this car ASAP. And to think, I was planning to keep this car for ten or more years.

I disagree, I have owned many cars, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, BMW 325, I was in an accident with my Cadillac. I was at a dead stop, when a car came flying around the corner at 65 miles per hour.

The car hit me dead on. and I mean dead on in the center.

The car rolled back a bit, the car never turned off, the air bags didn't even deploy. It didn't even know it was hit!

You look at the front of the car, and its surely totaled, but the thing DROVE AWAY from the accident own its OWN!

My wife and I walked away with out a single scratch!

If you get hit in this car, you will POSITIVELY SURVIVE it.

I should be dead right now.

If that's not superb engineering, then I don't know what is!
