2004 Cadillac XLR Northstar from North America
Summary:
In a word, superb! A bargain in this bracket
Faults:
Dealer replaced the left gas tank after it leaked gas on my garage floor.
The right outside mirror doesn't return up after placing the XLR in reverse.
General Comments:
A simply magnificent car! I also have a 2000 Porsche pp6 Carrera 2 convertible. I have a lengthy love affair with Porsches, and after buying this XLR for my wife, I had ordered a new Mercedes SL500 for her, but when she saw the first photos of the XLR, she wanted it instead.
I had to admit after driving this XLR that this was first American car I could see replacing my Porsche 996. The ride and handling are simply superb. It is quiet, powerful, and has that gutteral growl that marks it as a car to be reckoned with.
It is a terrific head turner and has stunning good looks with the top either up or down.
The trunk is big enough for my golf clubs, even with the top down preventer in place. The interior is lush and more importantly, very comfortable. Cadilac should have made the car 4-6" longer because it is a bit cramped for tall guys like me (6'4"), but still OK for long trips.
The cockpit is cocoonish, not the big open feeling of the Porsche. The heads up display is a marvelous feature that I predict will be incorporated in all cars of the future.
After the rather disappointing sports car two seaters of old, Cadillac has scored a big winner with this one.

I had the same issue with my side mirror not returning after reverse was used. I just wasn't waiting long enough. you need to wait for about 5 seconds after putting the trans in park. that seemed to "fix" my problem.

Have the same issue with the side mirror on my '98 Aurora. I was too quick to shut off the car after moving from reverse to park. Wait a few seconds and it comes back every time.

I`d like to travel in my XLR, but there is no room for luggage.
Does anyone have a solution?
