1959 Chevrolet Apache 3100 261 CU IN from North America

Summary:

Best vehicle I have ever owned

Faults:

Original fuel pump failed after 43 years. Other than that, it's been great.

General Comments:

It is a short box, step side 1/2 ton.

Rides like a tank.

Handles like a tank.

Seats are "bouncy" to make up for the leaf springs.

3 speed column shift "3 on the tree" shifts smooth.

Push button starter on the floor is cool.

Absolutely love driving this truck.

1959 Chevrolet Apache Base 235 V6 4-speed from North America

Summary:

46 years young - still strong!

Faults:

Radio doesn't work correctly.

For a 46-year old truck, it is pretty healthy - other than its routine maintenance.

General Comments:

This is a 1/2 ton truck with a regular cab, and it is very nice. It has a full size bed that is not a step side.

Not the quickest of trucks, but surely seems to have some hauling muscle from its potent V6.

Comes with a 4-speed manual with the granny gear that is easy to shift.

Cabin is very noisy and vibrates at idle, but isn't anything surprising. In fact, it is just the way I like it.

Starts right up, even on the coldest of days.

I think the most unique feature of the truck is the "superman logo" speedometer.

It has almost no rust, and still has its original paint - a light blue.
