Don't drive the car any further, the timing belt sounds like it's about to snap. Park the car and take the timing cover off and inspect that belt. If it breaks, your valves will get all bent and you will have to replace your whole cylinder head, if not more, depending on what gets damaged and how bad.

I love my '04 Aveo.
I haven't many problems with it at all. I do most of the oil changes and other small things myself.
The timing belt broke on it at around 64,000 miles, when it was 3 years old. Luckily I had just stopped for gas, so it did no damage. Just last month the serpentine belt broke, 90,000 miles, 6 years old. Both of these problems could have been avoided.
The one thing that is bad is the release bearing in the clutch. The bearing itself is a cheap part, but the time it takes to get at it is the expensive part, and if you are working on that I might as well do the clutch as well.
This will be my most costly repair at $500. But my car is paid of so I don't mind. It will hopefully be good for another few years.

I also have a 2005 Aveo LS. I have just recently replaced the serpentine belt myself at 58,523 miles. The belt cost my all of 40 bucks. This was a week and a half ago. When I came to my vehicle this morning, it had a odd idle.
When I put the car into reverse or drive, the car has a very noticeable vibration/shaking inside the cab that was not present before. Does anyone have any insight on what's happening?
I do my own service work regularly, and this is the first problem I've had with my vehicle.
