1989 Chevrolet Blazer Tahoe 4.3L V6 from North America

Summary:

A reliable, tough vehicle, that is nice to drive

Faults:

Engine spun a main bearing at 158000 miles. It still ran, even with that problem!

Had to replace the ball joints, lower control arm bushings, idler arm and pitman arm, because my tires were wearing out badly on the outside edges, but those were replaced at approximately 175000 miles.

CV joint boots need replacing again, but I do take this vehicle off road a lot!

Vehicle was stolen, so I had to replace all the glass except for my side mirrors, and my driver's side door glass. I also had to replace my starter, alternator, battery, speakers, and radio. Thanks a lot car thieves!

Vehicle was broken into so I had to replace my radio...again! I also had to replace my entire dashboard, because the radio mounts were broken off completely. Also, I had to replace the driver's side door glass, which completes the replacement of the glass.

Someone backed into my driver's side door, making a dent. I was able to pull out the dent on the door, but the rocker panel is still dented, and probably always will be.

An old couple backed into my passenger's side door, so now my doors match.

The seats are in great shape, but for long trips, they're not too comfortable.

General Comments:

This has been the most reliable car I've ever owned. It's still running strong after 17 years.

All the running gear; transmission, axles, transfer case, is all original, and still running great!

It has the off road package, which is all the skid plates and some other smaller things. This vehicle is a great off road vehicle! I have taken it over some very difficult jeep trails, in Arizona and Colorado, and it does great!

The original console was too short, so I replaced it with a new style tall one.

I added the overhead console from a 1994 Blazer which is a nice addition, and easy to do.

1989 Chevrolet Blazer S-10 4wd 2.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

It's a Chevy, enough said!

Faults:

The pitman arm was bad when I bought it. Got it replaced right away.

Brakes squeal as if the pads are bad, got checked and they said brakes were perfect (like new) and it was probably just noise caused by getting too hot.

A.C. doesn't work, and the fan only blows out of the dash and on the floor.

Back window defrost unhooked when I got it, don't know where the wires are, also the paneling around the radio was all broken, and dash missing 2 vents.

Rear window shocks bad.

Gas gauge doesn't work.

Door key only opens the driver door.

Most of the problems I had were small things that should have been fixed before I got it.

General Comments:

Lots of room, reclining seats (i love that) reliable and well maintained, clean and durable, but really slow, hard to get up to highway speed.

At 193000 miles and in this good of shape and running this good... what a deal!

1989 Chevrolet Blazer S-10 Tahoe 2 Door 4.3L Gasoline from North America

Summary:

Alright little truck

Faults:

First let me say the whole time I've owned this truck I've only put 29 miles on it& it has sat for more than a year before I purchased it.

About the 2nd or so day I had it the fuel filter clogged& the Spark Plugs fouled

The Spark Plugs keep fouling

Headliner sagging (does Chevy still replace them now?)

Rear window falls on you

Rear tire carrier is a little tricky to hook onto the tailgate

All the rear windows leak (where can I get the gaskets?)

Possible blown Head-Gasket

Possible oil-leaks

Transmission doesn't want to go into overdrive all the time

Front bumper is bent from when I rescued an H2

Right rear quarter panel might be loose

Makes black smoke or clouds of white smoke, kind of depends on what day of the week it is.

General Comments:

My previous car was a Grand Wagoneer which was comfortable w/leather so I'm not use to the 'downgraded' feeling.

Accelerates great, first time I had it wide open I was surprised.

No major rust just (I'm in the rust-belt)

Mostly garage kept.

I haven't had the time to fully test the 4wd, but it works.

Ice cold a/c.

I have the sliding windows in the rear so it makes loading stuff easier.

I like the way it looks.

I'll post more stuff in the comments section when I drive it a little bit more, can't wait!

Here's an update:

The way the engine was running ruff, that was the engine on it's way out with only 117,500 miles, still running, but unfortunately I had to purchase another vehicle, wish I could've had more time to spend driving it.
