1995 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 from North America

Summary:

Very reliable, but I am pretty nice to it

Faults:

I towed a 5000 lb boat quite a bit when it was new, leading to replacing the transmission at 150,000 miles. I put on a lot of highway miles. My tires last 100,000+. Replaced brakes & exhaust once. Replaced the fuel pump twice; cooling system twice.

General Comments:

I used synthetic oil since day one and only change it every 25,000 miles. It only uses 1 quart between oil changes.

My only problem at present - 4WD light goes on when you push the button, but does not engage in lo or hi. I changed the solenoid under the battery, but still no 4WD. It makes vacuum and clicking noise like it is engaging, but does not. I would guess something inside the transmission is amiss & I will need to give it to a dealer to fix.

1995 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4.3L from North America

Summary:

Lemon, lemon, lemon

Faults:

It started with the brakes at about 20000 miles. Had to replace pads and rotors. Anti-lock brakes never really did seem to work well. Seemed to eat brakes every 20000 to 25000 miles.

Transmission blew around 32000.

Many small problems over the course of the next few years included the four wheel drive, brakes, wheel bearings, went through a few set of tires, brakes, and more brakes.

The icing on this cake was around 120000 the engine got a tap. Apparently the engine was leaking oil, and since the skid plates caught all the oil I blew the engine, because of the oil coolant lines made of aluminum. Which expand and contract in the warm and cold.

The Chevy dealer replaced with a GM Good wrench re-manufactured engine. Turns out that that engine would go through a quart of oil every 200 miles. The Chevy dealer found that the number one cylinder was out-of-round, and replaced that with another re-manufactured GM Good wrench engine.

The next engine had the same problem!! Apparently, "getting two bad engines from GM Good wrench is like winning the lottery." After that the car was in and out of the shop 23 times for the same problem. One quart of oil per 200 miles driven.

General Comments:

This car was a lemon, and I"m sure still is a lemon due to the fact that the second GM BAD wrench engine was never replaced. I got rid of the car prior to a third one being put in. This car cost me thousands of dollars in repairs, that I'm sure I"m still paying off.

All though I wrote most of the problems with this car off to the fact that the last three digits of the VIN code were 666, I would urge people to not buy any used white 95 Blazer LT. You might as well repaint it yellow, like the lemon it was!!

The truck deserves to have money put into it. As many times as things have gone wrong it has NEVER left me stranded anywehre. She always bounces back strongly after one repair and I love her to death!

1995 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3L V6 from North America

Summary:

Good truck if you are mechanically inclined

Faults:

On and off engine light, twice a month or so. Same carbon buildup as everyone else, however when I just shut the truck off, and restart it the problem fixes it's self. The power mirrors are temper-mental and the front end will probably need ball joints in the future.

General Comments:

They are good SUVs for the price. This is my second one, I previously owned a 93 that was identical to this one except for the year. Only problem was that burned to the ground in an electrical fire due to the heating system. I bought a second one even after watching my truck burn to almost nothingness, now I just carry a fire extinguisher in this one, along with good insurance.
