1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 V6 from North America

Summary:

P.O.S. Never buy another one :- (

Faults:

3 front wheel bearings.

2 complete break jobs (rear calipers, all disks, pads AND master cylinder once).

4 ball joints.

Torsion bar bolt broken off.

Torsion bar bushings replaced.

2 sets of shock absorbers.

4 sets of quality tires (Good Year Wranglers ATS and Bridgestone Duellers AT), eaten away like crazy.

MAJOR vibration above 50mph, never found what it was, although I think it's coming from the drive shaft angle to the differential, but Chevy dealer can't repair after 5 trips.

Both seat recliner handles broken off.

2 U-joints on the drive shaft.

A fuel pump.

3 oxygen sensors on the exhaust system.

Clunking noise if the engine compartment, never figured out what it was, either me or the dealer.

AND the odometer display blinking on/off (that was the last drop that told me"GET A NEW TRUCK AND STOP SPENDING MONEY ON THIS BOTTOMLESS MONEY PIT...)

General Comments:

I owned a Blazer LS 4x4, 2 door, 130K KM, bought brand new. I would rate it the worst piece of junk ever produced by GM and that I have ever been suckered into buying. The only thing it had was the looks, as it was the GFX 25th edition. Finally seen the light and bought a Canyon recently...

The only good thing about this P.O.S. might be the Vortec 4.3 engine which performed flawlessly, and is rated one of the best.

1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 liter from North America

Summary:

GM should have buried the Blazer years ago..

Faults:

Passenger side seat handle broke - 48000 miles.

Both front wheel bearings went bad at 59000 miles.

Right front wheel bearing went bad at 67000 miles.

CV boots "slinging grease" (dealer quote). Also replaced at 67000 miles.

Grinding noise coming from front passenger side when making sharp right turns - 68000 miles.

General Comments:

This S.U.V. is a lemon waiting to 'happen'.

Rickety, rough ride.

I cringe every time I have to stop at a gas pump.

4WD works good.

So many broad-sweeping problems and no GM recalls?!

Thank God my wife and I had the sense to buy an extended warranty.

1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3L from North America

Summary:

We have been very pleased with this vehicle

Faults:

Replaced idler arm @ 25000 miles.

Both seat adjuster handles broke @ 40000 miles.

Replaced battery @ 70000 miles (normal)

Replaced transmission @ 85000 miles. This occurred soon after we had a repair shop do a full fluid flush so I can't say for certain what might have caused the failure.

Replaced 4 shocks @ 100000 miles (normal)

Replaced spark plugs @ 100000 (normal)

Replaced door hinge bushings (front) @ 75000 miles. Fairly easy to do yet had to purchase a special spring compressor tool.

Fuel gauge does not work correctly @ 140000 miles. Forced to use the trip odometer instead.

False fuel tank pressure sending unit reading on dash cluster. I disassembled the dash cluster and covered the lamp w/black tape vs. spending 100s on a new sending unit.

General Comments:

Gas mileage as advertised.

Decent performance.

Good looking vehicle with many available after market accessories
