2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS from North America

Summary:

I will not buy a Blazer again

Faults:

First fuel pump went at 48000 miles.

Second fuel pump at 122000.

Wheel bearings within first year.

Driver seat recliner lever the first year. The passenger side the next year.

A/C twice still doesn't work.

No heat. Haven't had that looked at yet. Can't believe it could be the heater core. $$$$$

Drivers side door doesn't close right.

Back windshield wiper not working.

Back window not latching properly. Fixed this with WD 40. Seems to be OK now.

Both lower ball joints replaced in last two years and idler arm.

Lots of other stuff I don't know the names for.

General Comments:

The car still rides pretty smoothly. Gas mileage is what I expected. It handles well in the snow. I have a boyfriend who's a mechanic or I would have gotten rid of it when the warranty was up. Won't go back to the dealer who sold me the car for maintenance. They need serious help. I hope GM has to make a lot of concessions in this so called government bailout. Some of these problems shouldn't have occurred. The guys and gals on the line need to take a cut in pay.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3 from North America

Summary:

Great and dependable all weather transportation

Faults:

Left front tire wears on outside.

General Comments:

This has been a good dependable 4wd transportation; avg 18mpg.

Have only added tires, plugs, gas oil and filters. We have not touched the engine or changed the fluid in the transmission, transfer case, or front and rear axles.

Needs driver door bushings and heater coil.

This has really been Solid Like A Rock American Made vehicle!!!

2000 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4 4.3 from North America

Summary:

Not reliable past 45k miles based on comments

Faults:

In the last 6 months I replaced:

Rusted out Catalytic converter 985.00

Rotors new on front+back 220.00

All new pads 70.00

Replaced all door hinge pins (doors wouldn't close right)

Locks pop out of place all the time also.

Replaced wheel bearing hub assembly left side, now I have to do the right side. 500.00.

Brand new tires (ones that were on were too big and worn out) 500.00.

I'm approaching 2k+ for repairing this thing and keeping it running.

General Comments:

Barbishes garbages.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 litre from North America

Summary:

Dependable vehicle

Faults:

Driver side door handle broke off, but I fixed it with a kit I found on the internet. I replaced both handles (for $50) by myself.

Fuel pump went at 80000 miles. I bought a fuel pump for $260 and had it installed for $200.

At 49000 miles, I had the dancing fuel gauge problem, and the dealer replaced the fuel sending unit for free.

I am ready to replace both front & rear shocks with Monroe Reflex Shocks.

Otherwise the car has been good to me, especially in the (NJ) winter.

Lenny.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4.3 V6 from North America

Summary:

Count on things to go wrong

Faults:

- New oil cooling lines.

- New radiator/hoses (completely cracked and spilled on the driveway).

- Antifreeze leak (new engine gasket and a cooling line).

- Faulty 4 wheel drive switch.

- Faulty mirror adjusting switch.

- Rear windshield wiper works when it wants (you can hear the gears grinding when it doesn't).

- Handle on interior back door is broken and the little button on the outside (I don't know what it does) doesn't work.

General Comments:

This is my first car and was hoping it would be convenient and reliable, but both of those have gone out the window with such repairs, and those which are routine, and not mentioned like new spark plugs, oil change, routine stuff, but this is ridiculous. I'm just hoping the transmission isn't going to scramble too.

2000 Chevrolet Blazer LT 4.3 vortec from North America

Summary:

Been good to me in NH rough weather

Faults:

Upper ball joint; $28.39.

Tranny in need of a flush

Wheel bearing; $98.56.

General Comments:

People complain about these cars all the time. I don't know if it's just their bad luck or my good luck, but at 147000 miles just now things are showing problems.

My only question is there anybody with the same problem as me, as far as a hard slam when going in reverse, and a lack of some power in reverse, but no problems in drive; shifts perfect?
