2004 Chevrolet Blazer from North America

Summary:

SUV period

Faults:

Seats and steering wheel are wearing quite a bit.

In the winter, snow builds up underneath the SUV, putting pressure on the E-brake, resulting in my having to pull over on the side of the road numerous times, because I am driving with the brake on.

Brakes have been replaced, rear brake has a terrible design, which is a pain in the a** to get off; it has a drum system for the E-brake and disc for regular brake.

Other than the above, nothing has gone wrong the car.

General Comments:

It is a very solid feeling SUV. It doesn't have too many fancy bells and whistles, but has been fairly reliable. It is a very comfortable vehicle to drive long distance, but isn't the greatest on gas.

The 4x4 is awesome, this thing is a beast in the snow.

If you are looking for a practical SUV for a decent price, you should definitely consider the Chev Blazer.

2004 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3L V6 from North America

Summary:

Typical solid Chevy/GM truck-based SUV

Faults:

Nothing, Service Engine Light comes on when running on cold days. Says below coolant temp. I reset it with a scanner tool. A very minor problem.

General Comments:

Typical GM: not a lot of style, but easy to drive, known reliability, nothing fancy. The 4.3 is a well known engine with the electronic AT. I have the 4 dr 2wd.

Again, nothing fancy, but a great used vehicle value if you can find one with low mileage.

I agree with what you say. My 2wd '97 just turned 210k miles. 2 wheel drive Blazers are far more simpler & superior, lacking only if a 4 wheel drive system is needed. Chevy got this series dialed in pretty good, with all '95-'04 Blazers being a nice ride if in good shape.

Agree. I have the 4 door, RWD. These are very solid and even comfortable SUVs. The basic engine and tranny are the solid GM gear. Had a wheel bearing go out. Replaced A/C, brake jobs, etc. Service engine goes on during cold weather, not a big issue. Good paint.

14 years old, ~100,000 miles now. It has been a very good vehicle.

2004 Chevrolet Blazer from Costa Rica

Summary:

Waste of money

Faults:

Front passenger seat recliner handle broke off.

Driver seat became unlevel.

Engine light ALWAYS on.

Transmission slipped.

New wheel bearings.

Impossible to align so failed gov't inspection over and over and over. Also caused me to go through tires quickly.

Oxygen sensors kept failing.

Power seat on drivers side failed.

Driver door always made strange noises.

Power mirrors failed.

Intermittent problem with drivers power window.

General Comments:

TERRIBLE AWFUL CAR. It should be illegal to manufacture a car this bad. I have nothing good to say about the 1999 Blazer other than I really like having the digital thermometer.
