Here's another little problem I'm having with my '94 Blazer (I posted a couple of messages above). The left turn signal does not automatically turn off after the turn is completed. The right still works fine. Go figure? Probably something simple, but a hassle, nonetheless.
I showed my automotive illiteracy above as well. A guy at the shop told me the problem is a heater "core" rather than "coil".

I have a 94 S 15 Jimmy which I love, it is reliable, mileage has always been 20 MPG to 22 MPG. I put in a K & N airfilter, keep tires inflated to 35 PSI. Problems have been few the mileage is 115000. I'm now selling it because I found a 94 S 10 Blazer LT with 29000 miles on it. This will be my forth older style GM 4x4, I did purchase a 97 S 10 and hated it, it went down the road after 3 years. Poor mileage, large turning radius, poor visability.

Where do I start? I have replaced the injector rail, water pump, fuel pump, idler arm, upper and lower ball joints, fuel tank, to mention a few. I had a main bearing go at 94,000. Result was a rebuilt motor which now needs a new head gasket. This truck is the ideal vehicle for me and my activities, although the cost has become outrageous! I probably, after everything is said and done, put 6-7000 dollars into this vehicle. Well past the point of no return. Same problems as you guys have mentioned as well. The leaky passenger side was fixed by unclogging the A/C drain. It comes to a funnel and the end got plugged. One question for whoever. I am purchasing a boat that weighs about 2600lbs. Will the Blazer tow this rig without "too" much trouble? I hope so. Thanks for listening.

Hi all.
I have a 1993 S10 Blazer with the Tahoe package. I have read all of the above entries. Wow, now I know that I'm not alone with these problems. I do have one question though. Does anyone know how to fix the digital dash, or do I need to send it in for repair? I was told it would be about $250 and up to repair it. Please e-mail me at cljb26@yahoo.com for any suggestions.

Altenator, front rotors and brakes, egr valve, and still it seems to smoke a lot and run rough until I blow it out on the highway and then it is fine. Please post information about the smoke and other things that I have mentioned.

Digital Dash must be sent back to the factory to be reprogrammed. 250 is a good deal I think I paid 500.

Hi all. I have a 94 S10 Blazer with the Tahoe package and the infamous Vortec engine. I cannot figure out why the car makes a rocket ship sound when it first starts for the day. It is not a high idle, I have tried to kick it down, and sometimes I have to sit for 5 minutes or more before it returns to a more normal idle. It sounds like the car wants to take off. My mechanic thinks I am crazy because the car never does that at his shop. Anybody else encounter this and if so, can you give me a clue please, as to what it might be? Any ideas please e-mail me at morningstartoo@webtv.net. Thanks.

Hi Everyone. All the comments about the 94 Blazer could be referring to mine, although I still like it (why is that??). My big problem is with the ABS system. The ABS and brake lights flash alternately on occasion, and when they do, I get a hard brake pedal and no brakes for the first pump or two. The vehicle also pulls to the left as if the front left wheel grabs. This doesn't happen all the time, but it sure is scary when it does. Any similar experiences and/or repairs out there? Please let me know. doc.martin@sympatico.ca Thanks.

I am trying to sell my 94 blazer. I had the heater core start leaking while someone was test driving it. $500 to fix. And now the 4WD won't engage. Light comes on, but no engagement of the front wheels. There was a vacuum hose broken that I fixed so hopefully this was the problem. Seems to me that there is an actuator under the battery linked to the 4WD system so we will see. I have to keep cleaning out the EGR valve too as carbon particles keep getting stuck in it. You can buy a generic valve for about $65 at the auto stores or just get a screen to stop the particle from entering the valve. Only 2 bolts to take the valve off and clean it. Easy to do it yourself. Reply to tpearce@concisedesign.ca Thanks.

I can't believe how much everyone who already commented knows my vehicle. I called Chevy about the 2 cpi injectors I had to replace in the last 4 years, the 4 EGR valves, the fuel pump, the 2nd replacement of the lower ball joints, the 4x4 encoder motor, the electronic 4x4 transfer switch. I explained that there should have been a recall on the heater core as that presents a safety issue. Luckily mine didn't dump in my wife's lap, but would have if she were in the car. Every mechanic I bring it to opens the hood, sees that Vortec engine and shakes their head. A very powerful, but very high maintenance fuel system. Runs great when the fuel system is not on the rag! Does anyone out there know how to change the 4x4 encoder motor? ($500 repair at shop) Does anyone know the trick to replace the driver side motor mount? My mechanic changed the passenger side no problem, but threw his hands up on the other. All in all this is a great off road vehicle, but also tends to be a side of the road vehicle too often. If anyone can help me with those questions email to belsucks@bellatlantic.com.

I also have a 1994 Blazer, and like most of the comments I have seen here, I am having trouble with the EGR valve. It has been replaced twice in the past year. It is now giving me trouble again. When taking off and cleaning, it only seems to last about a month and then it has to be replaced. There must be a way to correct this problem or at least some way to make this valve last longer. I to have heard about this screen. Can anyone out there help with info on this? Please E-Mail me Qsue333@aol.com.

Hi there.
I am having this EGR problem also and I can't afford 50 bucks a month. what does this screen look like and what materials were used. I am quite handy, I just don't want to use cheap products that will screw my engine up any further.
Please email me at cyberkidd@charter.net.
Mike.
