There are good and bad vehicles out of every model. That's life, I'm not a dealer, just an owner of many vehicles.
I just purchased my 3rd Blazer in a row. A 2003 4D 4WD LS and I'm not afraid of anything I've read in here or anywhere. I'll just give you a rundown of my past 11 years experience with the S-10 Blazer. Note: 4.3 Vortec motors ROCK! If GM gets rid of them, it will be their downfall!
Our 1st - 1993 2D 2WD 4.3l 5 speed. We purchased it around 57,000 miles old. Typical things went wrong alternator, idler pulley, fuel pump, exhaust... blah blah blah.
We drove it up to 179,000 miles and didn't want to get rid of it. Too many vehicles around the house and low man on the totem pole had to leave. (wish I still had it though) I would have drove it across country and not had a second thought of it.
Our 2nd - 1994 4D 4WD 4.3. Auto LS. We purchased it with 94,000 miles on it. It wasn't the smartest purchase, but it was reasonable. Typical things again go wrong again + 1) The A/C never seemed cold enough, 2) engine starting running rough around 160,000 miles and we have yet to find a fix for it. It still runs good off idle though. 3) squeaky rear window (I only think an act of God would fix that) If youve owned this body style you will know what I mean. 4) Digital dash's... don't buy one with a digital dash. Ours started going south about 170,000. A good swift smack and it comes back in play though. Anyway, we are at 176,000 miles and are ready to place her out to pasture.
We just purchased a 2003 4D 4WD LS yesterday and I don't have a doubt about doing it either! My experience is this. Stuff happens and if you don't get results (at your dealer) where you're at, start climbing the ladder until someone notices you. No since getting bent out of shape about it, it doesn't do your health any good!
That's my two cents worth of experience and I hope it helps you out!

I have had 3 Blazers. Put over 140,000 on one and 239,000 on a 88 S10. No major problems. Not like the dodges I owned; could not keep them on the road for any length of time.
Blazer years I owned 77 -149,000 miles, 88- 239,000 & a 97- 169,000 miles, and all were used for towing a 4000 lb boat & a 5700 lb camper all over the north & south east USA.

I own a 2000 blazer zr2 and I now have 96,000 miles. Runs perfect with no problems. Watch out for the wheel bearings, I don't have a problem yet, but I heard that is a common issue with the blazer. Goodluck!
