I cannot believe someone would buy a V6 Vamaro and purposely beat it up, what a waste of a car... A Camaro V6 is obviously not a muscle car. Why would you buy it in the first place??? And why didn't you sell it to someone who would take care of it?? Like a 16 year old kid or an older lady???

Why did you buy the six cylinder in the first place. I hope you knew what you were buying before you signed a agreement. You get what you pay for!

To the comment from January 19th, 2007.
I am the one who wrote this review here about it and I am replying to your comment.
First off, I DO deserve a nice 8-cylinder sports car. I have learned my crap, so to speak years before writing my review about this car. I had it since December of 2000. I wrote my first review about it in 2005. That's learning enough, alright?
I am not saying people suck and are stupid because they bought a sports car, because that's what I think that you think, because of your strong comment to me. What I AM saying is that, I think that if they never experienced the power of an 8-cylinder sports car before that V-6 sports car, I feel bad for them, because it reminds me of the mistake of the mistake that I made back in 2000.
Am I saying I think 8-cylinder sports cars are better than 6-cylinder sports cars?, ABSOLUTELY. Besides, my 6-cylinder sports car Camaro for some God-unknown reason always got a bad 20 mpg since I got it at under 25K miles. But with good gas mileage, I am indeed saying 8-cylinder sports cars are better than 6-cylinder sports car, unless maybe you buy a $3,000 turbocharger and finally have some burnout power.

If V-6's suck compared to V-8's, then V-8's must really suck bad compared to a V-10 or V-12. Like the first comment stated, a six-cylinder Porsche 911 would eat a Z-28 for lunch.

It got 20mpg cause you abused it like an ignorant teenager. Keep your foot out of the throttle and it'll be good to you in the gas mileage department... LIKE ANY CAR. I get 30+ on the highway and about 26 city, because I know how to drive a car. Camaro V6's can slap GT's around all freaking day long if the V6'er knows what he's doing... unlike you. If you think a Z28 is big and bad, try an SS or G2 Camaro. Then you'll know what real power is.

OK people v8's are better than v6's if the brand and the type of mods are kept constant. I think a v8 Porsche would beat a v6 Porsche.

The L36 or 3800 Series II, is one of the best engines in its class. It made Ward's best 10 Engines list in 95-97, and I have never had a problem with one. Want to hear something neat? If you don't maintain a car, things will go wrong with it very very often. I doubt you changed the oil very often or coolant etc... This is called regular maintenance.
If you do maintain your car, the L36 motor is fantastic for longevity, and power. You think V6's suck? They're the most bang for your buck. Plus the LS1 and LT1 warp because they're aluminum blocks and heads. I'm sure you'll love that about them. Go tell the guys at CamaroV6.com what you think of the V6's. You'll be told the same thing.

I own a '98 stick 6 Camaro, and have loved it since day 1, when I bought it new. I only have about 45,000 on it and never expected it to run like an 8. But, with stick it moves out pretty well, enough to make driving really fun. I rarely drive in rush hour traffic, so the stick is never an issue. Just fun, upshifting, downshifting, etc. It's a great looking car, and for $21,000 has given me everything I hoped for and more. I get about 22 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway, another thing I hoped for. Mileage wasn't the be all, but I didn't want to go broke, either. With gas at $4 a gallon, this has become important. I wanted a car that would be fun to drive, yet not bankrupt me at the gas pump, and this car has delivered.

The V6 Camaro is meant for people like me, who don't care about outrunning a car at a red light. Personally who cares who has more horsepower, you get a V6 Camaro to feel like your in a fast car. It's a great looking car & you get really good gas mileage if you don't run it like a dumbass.
If you want something fast, pony up the cash!! Make sure you get a discount at the gas station.

The problem with V6 Camaro's is not the car itself. I have no problems with a V6 powered car. It is the person driving the car that's the problem. People driving V6 Camaro's think their car is fast when we all know otherwise.

I think what the original reviewer is trying to say is that if you want a high performance muscle car, you have to have a V8 for power! V6 sports cars like plain Camaro's, Firebirds and Mustangs are for girls. For the person that stated a V6 Camaro could outrun a Z28; you do the math, a 2002 Z28 has 315HP (under-rated) while any plain Camaro has 115 to 180 HP depending on the years (1982-2002).

Umm actually the L36 or 3800 Series II comes with 200 HP stock buddy.. Add headers and a bigger CAT plus catback system your pushing about 260.. Add a cold air intake, bigger throttle body, K&N air filter, MSD coil pack and high conductive wires and your definitely going to keep up with a stock Z.. Plus if you know how to install anything than and you do it yourself these mods cost less than 2000.. And this isn't even getting into the cam, lifters, push rods rocker arms etc.. Do that and you've easily out powered a Z28.. Want to know how I know this? Because I've got the first mods, and my buddy has got the exhaust and cam done, and we've raced cocky Z drivers..
The V6 in the Camaro for that year is fantastic.. Wards top 10 engine list didn't include the LT1 or LS1 for 4 years in a row.. It's peppy and yeah, with some mods, kicks the crap out of you Z drivers who just buy a fast car and no nothing about it.. Chew on that.

Well just so you know, it was your mistake buying a 6 cylinder. I have a 1998 Camaro 6 cylinder and have NO problems out running a z28. Yes I have had a lot of work done to my car, but love the performance over a v8. I have driven both and will pull up against any Stock z28 out there... Next time you should test drive before you buy.
