1989 Chevrolet Cavalier RS 2.0L from North America

Summary:

Just keeps on running!

Faults:

Drivers seat is wore alittle.

General Comments:

This is a great car, it runs and drives well. Nothing had been done to it other than a new battery and normal tune-ups. It has lasted this long because it was taken care of. Good old chevrolet.

1989 Chevrolet Cavalier RS from North America

Summary:

I love my Cavalier

Faults:

Paint oxidized.

Replaced Computer at about 140,000 miles.

Headliner fell, replaced with new one.

Heater Core busted, flooded the car.

Ignition switch needed to be replaced at 178,000 miles.

General Comments:

Other than a few mechanical problems, most of the problems I have experienced with this car were cosmetic.

My Cavalier is reaching 180,000 miles and is still running. It has been a wonderful and reliable car.

I have had it painted and keep routine maintenance done. I expect this car will go at least another 20,000 miles. It is in such good shape, I am handing it over to my son who is about to start driving.

1989 Chevrolet Cavalier from North America

Summary:

Great car for show and racing, but that's it

Faults:

Extreme power and the engine purrs like a kitten!

Wonderful gas mileage!

Horrible crash performance!

Headliner comes down easily and is a pain to fix.

General Comments:

I was involved in a severe accident in my Cavalier a few months ago and was extremely disappointed in its overall crash performance. The car literally caved in and I was trapped in the drivers side by the caving in of the passenger side. Please do not purchase this car if you have children or value your life. It's a fun car to drive, but not one you want to have as an everyday vehicle.

I have to disagree, I had a 1990 Cavalier Z24 and was hit from behind at a stop light. The lady was going about 50 mph when she hit me. The car itself was totaled, but it did what it was designed to do. Folded leaving just the cab intact! Myself and my 5 and 6 year old childern got out without any serious injuries. The insurance adjuster said that the design of the car is what saved us, compaired to the new redesigned models my year make saved us from potential harm. These cars were made of mostly steel unlike the "new" one which are composed of mostly plastic and aluminium. So I would and now do own and exact year make and model of this same car! This has been the best car I have ever owned!

1989 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 2.8 from North America

Summary:

Lots or torque

Faults:

Well lets see. I had to replace the power steering line, ran a leak. Both ball joints went. both front end bearing went. Leaky gas tank which was not a nice job to do on your driveway..

Electronic control computer is on the rocks, but a quick fix is to disconnect it for a few hours and connect it back.. it works.. I got my cruise control back that way.

Other than that, it still running strong as ever.

General Comments:

The cavalier runs and performs real well.. Lots of torque and passing power on the highway. The suspension is a bit on the unstable side due to the 60 series tires.. a low profile tire is needed.. but then you would have to change the rims..

You want to make your chevrolet last??

Switch to Mobile 1 syn oil.. Your engine will thank you. K&N air filter isn't such a good mod.. trust me..

I recently received a 1989 Chevy Cavalier Z24. It was fine when given to me, but upon delivery of the vehicle it doesn't work like it should because it was stolen. If you ask me this car is not to be ran that hard.
