2000 Chevrolet Impala LX 3.8L from North America

Summary:

A dependable family car with style and performance

Faults:

At around 18,000 miles the air bag light is on all the time. Repaired under warranty.

At 26,000 miles the air bag light is on all the time. Repaired again under warranty.

At 35,000 miles the air bag light is on all the time. Once again, repaired under warranty.

Now at 49,000 miles, again the air bag light is on intermittently and I have mentioned this to my dealer. However, at the last service the light was not on and no work was done.

Other than the air bag light I have had no problems with the car. My dealer assures me that the air bag is functional, only the sensor under the drivers seat is defective. General Motors issued a recall for this sensor, but according to the service department not on my model.

General Comments:

The car has plenty of power for a family car.

I wish the car was a little tighter in the curves, but, I don't want to give up the smooth ride.

It is very dependable and a joy to drive... Lots of room.

Very quite ride, no air noise at all.

I am having the exact same problem with the airbag light...

The dealer has said that it is faulty on numerous 1999 Impalas and they seem to not be able to guarantee a replacement part to fix it.

2000 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.8 from North America

Summary:

This Impala goes to the head of the class

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with it.

I purchased it from the original owner who has only had to put regular maintenance into it.

General Comments:

This car is like sitting in your lazy-boy and flying down the highway.

The look and feel of it is first class.

I have the sport package which makes it look racy, but it provides unbeatable comfort and convenience.

2000 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.4 Liter from North America

Summary:

Great family car for the price and engine power

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car.

Everything is in good working order and the car runs excellent.

General Comments:

This car is very fast for it's size.

It doesn't handle as well as I would like, but the front wheel drive is great for my wife, as she won't be throwing the back end around when she drives it.

Summary:

Rides and handles like a Caddy with a Chevy price tag

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with this car yet. After reading all the reviews on the car I don't expect anything to go wrong.

General Comments:

This is an awesome car. Even though it's not the LS sport model, it still handles great. The car has a smooth, quiet, comfortable ride. When going into the corners and you it the steering wheel hard, it feels like the car instantly tightens to make the turn.

2000 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.8 from North America

Summary:

The style and lines make this car a head turner

Faults:

In the first week of my purchase the turn signal wiring proved to be defective. I took the car in and it was fixed the following day.

My spark plug wires also proved to be defective during the second week. I had my car towed to the dealer, and it was fixed within 3 days.

The side airbag on the driver's seat isn't fitted right, or is otherwise not flush mounted to the seat.

General Comments:

After the annoying, but easily fixable, problems which happened in the first month of purchase, the car has proven itself to be more reliable.

The seats are comfortable and have good leg room (as I am 6 foot 6 inches).

It has good acceleration and is very stylish, which gives it a sportier feel even though it is a 4 door car.

However, an SS model, if they had made one, would have been even better.

I have a 2000 Chevy Impala V6 front wheel drive vehicle. My Impala has 52,000 miles on it. On Tuesday July 15, 2003 my transmission exploded along with the clutch pack. I was without my vehicle for 10 days while a new one was being built. I would just like owners of this year Impala with under 100,000 miles on the transmission to be aware of this potential defect that was so catastrophic to my 2000 Chevy Impala. Oh and yes I did have a complete transmission fluid change prior to this major failure. Of course the factory warranty was 36 months or 50,000 miles, but I am now in touch with the GM Dealer that I purchased it from to see if GM will help absorb the $2500.00 repair cost with what is called "Secret Warranties" or "Goodwill" Most manufacturers will not admit that they have these. I am aware of it because I used to work for a Chevy Dealer. With that said I still love my Impala overall and just got it back this evening at 5:00pm July 24, 2003.
