2004 Chevrolet Impala Base 3.4 Liter (3.4 V6) from North America

Summary:

Good driving full size car, plenty of power, and good fuel economy

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car, so far have owned it for 500 miles, and it seems stable so far.

General Comments:

I really like this car. The base model has the smaller V6 engine (3400), but it accelerates quickly and smoothly. Even with all this power, I am getting 28 miles to a gallon. The seats are very supportive and comfortable. The view out of the car is good. One of my favorite features is the highway driving, at 75 miles per hour, the motor isn't even working, and you barely are touching the gas.

Update: I have a total a 59,000 miles on this car now, and absolutely NO problems ever have come up so far. It still gets excellent fuel economy, and is holding up well. No complaints at all. I recomend the Impala to anyone looking for a reliable, roomy, and comfortable full size sedan that still wants great fuel economy. Chevy makes a great sedan.

Summary:

This car is Perfect!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the impala yet.

I have only changed the brakes and rotors once.

I sure hope nothing goes wrong with the car in the future.

General Comments:

I am glad I purchased the All-Speed Traction Control and the ABS.

I need these because I live in Northern NY and when it's winter, its sometimes wild.

Chevy has done a good job with the Impala.

Also I really liked the Alloys I got instead of the ugly plastic covers.

2004 Chevrolet Impala LS 3.8 from North America

Summary:

LEMON

Faults:

Since I bought the car new, I have added at least 1 1/2 quarts of oil every 1500 miles. Dealer performed engine oil consumption tests which proved out of GM specs. The vehicle is now in the shop for the third time having major engine repairs done.

First- replaced PCV valve.

Second- replaced piston rings and push rods.

Third- re-machine head and change valves and seats and springs.

General Comments:

Numerous trips to dealership for service.

Decreased value of the car.

Car has been in the shop for 1/5th of it's life.

LEMON.

Just because you have had problems with yours does not mean that the Accord is better. The Impala was rated the best in reliability in the JDS serveys, you just got a lemon. I would not touch an import with a 10-foot pole. GM makes the most comfortable cars for the price. I know 5 people with Impalas and they have had no problems at all, just regular maintenance.

2004 Chevrolet Impala 3.4 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great price and quality for a full size sedan

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong since I have had this car.

General Comments:

I love this car. It gets excellent gas mileage for a full size sedan.

The interior is very comfortable and roomy.

The stereo is very nice. There is enough noise coming from the stock system that there is no need to buy after market anything.

The 3.4L V6 is a very powerful engine for my driving style. Hills are no problem and the all-around get up and go is excellent.
