I am a young woman from fRESNO, Ca. My mother and father bought me a 2000 Chevy Malibu two days ago. I didn't want a "family car" but my parents felt it would be dependable. During the test drive everything worked fine, of course. But as I drove off in my car, my turn signals magically stopped working. I tend to use my signals often so this defect was very bothersome. They seemed to have a mind of their own because they only worked when they wanted to. I also noticed that my A/C was acting up. It also had a mind of it's own, as it switched back and forth from vent to A/C. I was driving down a busy street (aprox. 50 mph) and a signal light turned yellow all of a sudden. So, I pressed on my brake pedal and I noticed that the pedal slipped and went down fast. Mind you, this all happened on the way home from the car lot. Is this only the beginning?

I can't believe that blinker problems are common. I am the original owner of a 2000 Malibu. My brakes have to be replaced every six months and now my blinkers have a mind of their own. This is very dangerous on long distance travel. Today I traveled 140 miles round trip. My blinkers worked on the way to my destination and refused to work on the way home. I've had them looked at with no solution found. After reading this site I see that I am not alone with this problem.

I have a 2001 chevy malibu, the problem with the blinkers not working is very common with the malibu. the solution is the hazard switch needs to be replaced. the problem with the brakes and rotors is also very common. I switched to ceramic brake pads and the higher end rotors and that seemed to work. I also had the serpentine belt replaced and I also have a engine coolant leak that I need to get fixed.

I have a 2000 Malibu and we have been happy with it for the most part. We now have 260,000 km on it.
We recently have been experiencing problems with the signals cutting out. Has anyone had the car not starting. It is turning over, but it just won't start. When we have it towed to the dealership it is just fine.

I just recently bought a 2000 Malibu and everything seemed fine, but now my coolant light keeps coming off and on and my front passenger door won't unlock. Is this only the beginning of many problems to come?
