2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT 4x4 crew cab 5.3 from North America
Summary:
Built to last
Faults:
The first six months I had a few minor problems with it, the dealer repaired the famous whistle from the engine by replacing an idler pulley, the original battery was replaced, and the factory radio was also replaced under warranty.
The factory tires are very cheap and replaced them long before they were worn out.
The rest of the truck has held out very well, it now has over 175000 miles on it, and I have only had to replace items that normally wear out in a vehicle (alternator, brakes, ball joints, etc)
General Comments:
My last truck was a Toyota Tundra, which I only had for 8 months, it was bought back by Toyota through the lemon law. I will have to post a separate review of that truck one day, what a miserable product they built with a dealer network that has a "we don't care, Toyotas are the best" attitude.
This Silverado gets plenty of work, I tow my bumper pull horse trailer with it all the time, as well as my travel trailer.
The first few months the truck seemed to have quite a few minor problems, but it has since provided me with very reliable service, and still feels well built and tight. It is good to see an American company building vehicles that don't disappoint, and that last well beyond the factory warranty trouble free.
I will look at a GM car when it comes time to trade my wife's Infiniti G35.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
