2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LT 4.2L from North America
Summary:
Nice ride, but iffy quality
Faults:
My experience is similar to others posted to this site. Vehicle is in the shop awaiting the Fan Clutch replacement. Yippee a nice bill for $600 for an item that GM admits is defective. A recall is in order as is the refund to all of those that have overpaid for this repair!
General Comments:
Considering that the 2002s TB have many known issues I have had fairly good luck with mine to date. Now that I have jinxed myself by making such a comment I suspect that ole Murphy will be visiting me. I do believe GM has responsibility to better cover parts that they admit are defective and have proven to show an abnormal failure rate.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

You need to check the recall for your Vin #. Our engine did the same thing at 80,000 miles, we had to get a used engine with 8000 miles from the salvage yard. Only to find out after the fact that Chevy had put out a recall on the Engine. We were reimbursed $1,500. Obviously not the full cost of repair. If only we would have checked first on the recalls, Chevy would have bought a new engine for us, and we wouldn't be having a problem with the fan clutch right now. It sounds like a helicopter, or the engine is at a high RPM. Hey, but it's only a $700 dollar fan clutch. I will never buy a Chevy as long as I live, nor will I let my family or friends.
