2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS from North America

Summary:

Overall very good

Faults:

We have incurred the same problem with the Fan clutch that others have listed on this site. The loud revving noise, when I took it to a local garage they were unable to recognise the noise instantly, but when they did, they said it too was the fan clutch sticking.

We have 78000 miles on this truck and this has been the first major thing that we have had to fix. So overall we have been fortunate, but this is pretty expensive. It is the same with the headlights on these trucks, they cost a lot to be fixed as they are labor intensive, unlike the rear lights which are very easy to replace.

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer V6 from North America

Summary:

I hate it

Faults:

This vehicle is very loud and has always been loud. There is substantial wind noise.

I am told the transmission is "going-out" and that is a frequent problem with the TrailBlazer. The transmission problem also adds to the noise level. Since my warranty is long since over--this is my expensive problem.

I feel that it is the most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever owned. The seats are small and hard. The back seat is very narrow and there are no arm rests.

I travel daily for work and my car is a 2nd home. Other than the transmission, I have had no mechanical problems. I just hate the vehicle because it is loud and uncomfortable; I usually trade every 2 years--but not one one to give me a decent trade-in with the transmission.

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LTZ 4.2L from North America

Summary:

Great SUV for a rich GRANDMA!

Faults:

Had some problems with the rear tail light that fixed under warranty. I have some problems with the moon roof acting funny when I am opening it.

General Comments:

What excellent brakes on this beast! The best braking that I have ever had the pleasure of owning. The ride is great, but the mpg sucks. I get an average of 16 and about 12-14 when pulling my little 10 foot pop-up camper. The power in my LTZ is for the dogs. You have to keep it to the floor to get thru rush hour traffic and then you only barely make it. My 4.3 in my old blazer had twice the gusto! My Trailblazer however, does not cost me the thousands of dollars in repair each year that my Blazer 4.3l did. I just hope my next 40,000 miles goes as smooth.

2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS 4.2L from North America

Summary:

Very comfortable to drive

Faults:

The only problem I've had was the accelerator sensor, which intermittently failed after 6 months. Took 2 visits to the shop to fix.

General Comments:

After 75000 miles of New England driving on highway, city, dirt and pot hole filled roads, the car still has a very smooth and quiet ride. Other than the initial problem with the accelerator sensor, this trailblazer has been very reliable. More than adequate acceleration.
