My Grandpa bought a '77 Chev pick up brand new. It was a great work truck with a 400 Big Block V8. It pulled a 6 place horse trailer for most of its life. After my grandpa died it sat around most of the time and occasionally it was used to go fencing with. Then my dad and I went out to the barn it had sat in for several years, hooked up some starter cables to it and it fired right up. The engine has been rebuilt once and it could use it again. We've replaced the carberator, and put in a new exhaust system, and had to put in a manual choke. I'm 16 years old and have spent a lot of time under the hood of that truck replacing spark plugs and other thing such as the alternator, belts, and radiator hoses.
Besides all these problems this is an excellent truck and can take a beating. Like the Energizer Bunny it just keeps on going and going.

I bought my 77 Chevy Custom Deluxe Pick up with Small block 350 V8 from my father in-law for $1000.00, who bought it new in 1978. It has 86000 miles and runs good, but my father in-law converted it to a two barrel carburetor with an adapter kit, and it gets really bad gas mileage. I need to put the 4 barrel back on it after I rebuild it.

Yea a 400 is a small block engine. Sorry buddy, it might be a big block 402 or 396.

My father has 1976 Chevy truck; 6 cylinders in line, it works fine. As a matter in fact, I am looking to own one, specially 1973-1975, because I do not want to pay for smog checks.

Hi, I have the 1977 Silverado addition with the 350 V-8 in it and it runs like a charm. Amazingly it does awesome with gas mileage. I bought the truck from the original owner with 90,000 miles on it for $500.00 dollars. I couldn't be happier.
