1999 Chrysler Sebring Convertible LX 2.5 Mitsubishi from North America

Summary:

Love it

Faults:

Stalling - however crank sensor replaced and corrected problem. Brakes are funny - sloshing in the rear quarter, but had the dealer drill a hole underneath the quarter and now it's fine.

Body slightly contorts, and rattles above the windshield where the top seals when going over bumps or tracks. Have spent about $6,500.00 on it so far, and that includes the new top.

The 2.5 Mitsubishi engine is an awesome little powerhouse, and I have a hard time NOT scratching every time I take off from a light!

NOTE: If battery gets low, the car will do all sorts of weird things (like dummy lights going off and on, and headlights flickering). Ask me if you need to know before you waste $$$ just to find it was a $90.00 fix! As you can see from what I spent... I can tell you a few things! ;)

Do I regret buying this car? NO. I would give her up ONLY for the 2011 Camaro Convertible!

General Comments:

I have no regrets about buying this car. However, there was no maintenance performed by previous owner, and it was costly to catch all of that up.

What I am actually here for is to find decent wheels. The ones I have are warped and I want the 12 spoke, 16 or 17" (alloy or aluminum) ones. I am being told that the wheels I want won't fit yet I have seen that they came as an option for 1999.

I have been a Camaro buff for over 20 years and wheel swapping between year models and "sister" (Firebird) models was never a problem. I am wondering if my Bree is from another planet? Or maybe I have only spoken to morons? The dealer says my car shows to interchange all the way up to 2009, so I have no idea what to do! Buying wheels was never so stressful!

I am a female and I have noticed that men tend to take me for an idiot when it comes to cars... at least til they allow me to speak.. LoL Common sense tells me that a set of 16" wheels off a 2001 should pop right on. Am I correct or do I own an oddball? die4lisa3@aol.com Please... help me get my wheels! ;;)

1999 Chrysler Sebring Convertible jxi 2.5 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great convertible

Faults:

Replaced alternator at 135000 miles. Replaced top at 144000 miles. Rear seats bottom needs replacing now-don't leave it parked in the sun all day with the top down day after day!

General Comments:

This car has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. The only problems I have had with it were "self inflicted".Bought the car 'on the money' because of the high mileage. Still doesn't use a quart of oil between oil changes (5000).Just replaced the top. Top was good until I was no longer able to park it in the shade where I work and all of the thread that holds it together broke-Florida sun is rough on anything. Also car is rinsed of every morning since it sits outside at night. Top works great-can let it up or down at a red light with no problem. Drives and rides excellent for this size auto. The drive and ride is much better than the Camaro or Mustang which I consider to be a comparable size, etc car. The differince between an automobile and a car is the best way I know to express my feeling between it and them. BTW, I have owned all 3. This car is id a daily driver and I also have driven it from NW Fla to SC numerous times (95% interstate) and drives excellent there.
