1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXi 2.5/V6 from North America

Summary:

I love my car!! I don't regret buying my car one bit!!

Faults:

Front speakers are blown out/distorted at 80,000 miles due to person owning it before me putting aftermarket stuff in it for stereo components.

No matter how many times the wheels are balanced and the car is aligned the car steering wheel shakes/vibrates when stopping from higher speed. That is just simply annoying!

General Comments:

This has been the most dependable car I have owned yet!!

She looks great and runs beautifully!!

Even at a 103,600 miles and 30,000 to 40,000 of them miles I put on alone everything is great!

For the people who are having bad luck with their Sebrings, don't knock them there are always a few out there that were made on a Friday (lol) no, if you are buying a car that has 50,000 miles or more buy an extended warranty they are money savers.

Parts on cars do go bad with miles/age it is normal. Buy an extended warranty that covers a lot of parts with a deductible of like $50.00 you won't regret it. Have had great luck with my Sebring in general. It has over 100,000 miles on it still running like a top! No electrical, fuel, AC or fuel system problems at all.

I LOVE MY 1998 SEBRING LXi!

Top certified working mechanic here: vibrations & steering wheel shake when BRAKING (as in the case above) usually have nothing to do with tires, tire balance or suspension alignment: it's warped brake rotors (usually front rotors). Replacement necessary of both front rotors, or all 4; "turning", machining, or resurfacing brake rotors only makes them thinner, and more prone to warpage... I've had great success with aftermarket brake rotors, sometimes costing as little as $25 each!! jps1158@yahoo.com.

1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe lxi 2.5L from North America

Summary:

This car is just like every other, sometimes it needs some TLC.

Faults:

The door panels will fall off if they are not repaired under warranty. EGR valve went bad. Had to replaced fuel injectors. Door mounts went bad on drivers side. Rims on car are garbage. They original rims are faulty. I replaced my rims with the money which was won in a class action lawsuit against Chrysler in 2006.

General Comments:

I bought this car brand new and still drive it today. I have maintained this vehicle myself with the exception of any warranty work. The only problems that were pricey were the front lateral control arms which can run $300 per side. If your car has a thump when you hit a bump, most likely your sealed ball joint is bad and you can only replace that by replacing the whole control arm. If you get a check engine light for misfire in a random cylinder and you check all the obvious, then I suggest changing your fuel injectors. You can get a rebuilt set for less than $200 on the net. It's about a 4 hour job. The fuel injectors plagued me for about 10 months. If anyone knows where I can get cheap exhaust pipes for this car please let me know.

Sounds like it's been a decent enough car. The lower ball joints are "supposed" to have a lifetime warranty (recall).

1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LXi 2.5 V6 from North America

Summary:

Mine will rule above all

Faults:

Nothing yet, it's doing fine, however I've noticed the brakes squeak; that made me worry.

Other than that, the front is really low, just like everyone else says, so you need to be careful! Meaning drive with skill.

General Comments:

The car is sporty, and I love it. Pretty fast. Could be faster, which I'm having a extra 160 horse power added. I'm doing a lot to mine; performance exhaust and so many other things. It will be so sweet.

I'm also installing vertical doors, yeah baby!

1998 Chrysler Sebring Coupe LX 2.6 Val V6 from North America

Summary:

Reliable until 100,000 miles (in 2.5 val V6)

Faults:

Where do I BEGIN!!!? I must say first I love this car. Its stylist and sleek, but too much of a hassle.

Like the previous comments from others the brakes squeal no matter if they are new or old. They began to squeal at 65,000 miles and haven't let up since.

My driver door handle is broke and its not cheap to get another one to replace it.

I'm coming up on 100,000 miles and I need a tune up. Now there is an up side to have spark plugs that last 100,000 miles however the tune-up it self is REALLY EXPENSIVE! The average tune-up for this car in MI at Chrysler Dealerships and tune-up company's is around $400.00. No joke. This is only for the 2.5 val because they have to take the cover off the engine to replace the spark plugs. Three of them are not visible.

General Comments:

Other than that the car drives so-so. The turning ratio SUCKS! Its not as smooth riding as the 300M. And the seating in the car is hard to get out of because the seats are sooo low. However this car has held to its bargain.

My sebring has 170,000 miles on it and I have not had any problems. It's a great car!

I think they are not worth anything. I had my engine and transmission go out.

I loved my Sebring LXI!!! It finally died after 229,000 miles! Yeah, it was a pain for tune ups, but I kept changing the 3 plugs that were accessible, and had the ones I couldn't get to changed just after I bought it 7 years ago with 120,000 miles on it. It made it to the Florida Keys and back to MI this past winter without any problems. I really loved this car. It was my all time favorite car. I will really miss it.
