1982 Citroen 2CV Club 602cc from Portugal

Summary:

Great, great, great little thing

Faults:

ConNections to the ignition lock unit are jumping out many times.

Rusty floor.

Freezing before engine gets hot during the winter.

Front door windows are a serious arm killer.

Petrol pump once.

General Comments:

Fun to drive, open the sunroof and enjoy it.

Comfortable, after 300kms driving you are ok.

Gets anywhere, sometimes gets into places that powerfully cars don't, as it is higher than the others, put it in 1st gear big hills, tracks with sand or mud even flooded areas as well, as the engine and the exhaust are out of water, they are not a problem.

Runs with the gasoline smell, you fill it up and you will forget the last time you do it.

Modern cars dont have the same charm, they are power and speed, no charm or fun

1982 Citroen 2CV A 0.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Citroen 2CV (Mighty Duck), everything else is just traffic

Faults:

General wear and tear. Reversing up a single lane hill when visiting my Grandparents killed the gearbox in our first. 2nd was a '92 model, It was stolen and over-turned by animal rights activists after French farmers had burned some British sheep at the bottom of the Eiffel tower. 3rd one was taken off the road after I collided with a Volve estate. Driver's side damage, I came out without a scratch, and after the police came and went, I drove it away. (The Volvo wasn't going anywhere.)

General Comments:

Not much in the way of materials, but put together in such a way that car designers are only now recognising as safe and reliable, e.g. Smart, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, etc.....

Chrysler tried to copy it for this year with their "Chrysler China Vehicle", and they couldn't make it work. The originals are still the best.

Best point? It's not boring. It's the most un-boring car on earth.

But of course! It is proven that 2CVs are far stronger than Volvos!

How on earth do you give it a 6 for performance? 0-60 in over 25 seconds!!! Oh my word, cars of this velocity deserve not to be on any roads - extremely dangerous, because it creates hazards for people in normal cars who have to overtake these boats!! Please sell your car - it is a boat! (sorry)

1982 Citroen 2CV Club 0.6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

80,000 miles; usual wear. Clutch after 70,000 miles, wheel bearings due to accident, brake cylinder 2x, exhaust 2x, brake pads every 20,000 miles. Tyres, lots of them. But most of all bodypanels. Floor 1x, hood, front wing, rear wing, canvas roof 2x, chassis beam 1x.

General Comments:

Bought the car with 14,000 miles on the clock - for 150 pounds, total running cost after 6 years and 94,000 miles on the clock: 1,100 pounds!

As simple as lego, and insurance is a laugh!
