2014 Citroen C5 VTR+ 2.0 HDi from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Stylish and inexpensive luxury
Faults:
Nothing.
General Comments:
The C5 is an underrated car from Citroen in my opinion. I got this car real cheap in a used car sale.
Dark blue, lovely alloy wheels. A very nice looking car. Much less common than other cars in this class like Mondeos and Insignias.
Inside is where this car shines. I have never had a more comfortable car. Seats are perfect, interior is designed very well. Lots of space and clever storage compartments. VTR+ spec is nice.
The 2.0 HDi is powerful enough and you can get 50 mpg driving sensibly.
Overall I love it - it's good to be different, this car is not a common sight on the UK roads at all but it should be! I am aware of the dodgy reliability ratings other reviews elsewhere around the internet talk about, but mine has been great so far and I have covered 11,000 miles in the last year or so without a hiccup. Buy a well looked after car and you cannot go wrong.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Naysayers will tell you these always break down - they don't. French diesels are among the best if you know how to look after them. Reliability tends to vary admittedly, however across all French cars, the smaller units (1.5 and 1.6) tend to be more troublesome than bigger units, of all generations.
The 2.0 HDi in all larger French cars, that includes Citroen, Peugeot and others, seems to be pretty durable if taken care of correctly. And used correctly advice applies to all diesels - to get the benefit from diesel you need to do lots of miles, these cars are suited to long motorway cruising, and firm drives (get the revs up every now and then), but too many short journeys clog the DPF and cause other issues.
