1994 Citroen Xantia SX 1.9 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Look after it and it will look after you
Faults:
Handbrake cable snapped.
Head gasket leaked oil at 155k miles.
ABS sensor failed.
Clutch cable snapped.
Dashboard lights just gone out.
General Comments:
Totally reliable and has only let me down with the clutch cable incident.
Comfy car and reliable if you observe the service intervals and have a trustworthy garage to hand.
My car is now officially worth £13.00, yet it takes me 500 miles a week without fail and returns 50 mpg.
Just because they have done a few miles doesn't mean they are worn out nails!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

If you had held on to it, you probably would have regretted doing so. Agree with the excellent road holding, and the handling is soft but accurate. The ride is good, but not THAT amazing, have driven plenty of standard suspension setups that are just as cosseting.
For us, niggling electrical problems, rattles, difficult cold starting, patchy build quality and maintenance that can only be properly done by pricey dealers or specialists put us off, and we went back to Japanese. They're also hard to get parts for in NZ. Sure x-France you can get anything, but how much do you want to invest in a car worth less than 5k?
The Europeans are very enthused about these cars, they must have a lower expectation of reliability and durability than New Zealand drivers.
Stay away unless you're an enthusiast.
