2002 Citroen Xsara HDI 2.0 turbo diesel from Australia and New Zealand
Summary:
Fast, cheap and reliable
Faults:
Passenger window not working. Haven't fixed it yet as quote is $1000.
Replaced stereo because CD player stopped working.
Clutch starting to feel stiff.
Nothing else.
General Comments:
A great car, attractive, fast, handles extremely well, economy is great on long trips - I get about 700km to a tank.
I have had no major problems with the car, only annoying thing is the passenger power window not working.
Exterior of the car looks great, I have it in Burgundy. Interior of the car is not so great in my opinion. The rest of the car feels so solid and things inside feel loose, one air conditioning vent has broken and general wear and tear has taken its toll on appearance. Still it all works OK, but could be better.
Performance is bloody good, the turbo is impressive, and even better in manual. As it is a diesel it can struggle in acceleration higher that 115km/h, but still gets up and goes. Sometimes with a full load it would get very hot and lose all power, although it would still maintain speed this was very annoying.
Citroen were great at looking after us, but every time there was a service they would find something that probably wasn't broken and charge us $2000. We take it to a standard mechanic from now on.
Highly recommended, a car that stands out (cause hardly anyone here has Citroen's).
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I agree 100%, buying these second hand is a bargain. Ultra low price which does not reflect the quality of these cars. Only downside is somewhat high maintenance cost and parts costs, but these cars does not have to be repaired that often at least the two that I had was very reliable. Had them as company cars some years back and will now buy one used as a second (private) car.
