This car is very quick and handles well.

Has the pickup when needed.

Don't buy a dark color as it shows all the scratches.

1999 Daewoo Nubira CDX Sedan from North America

Summary:

All around good buy

Faults:

24-hours is too soon to judge possible problems, however, the car still is under warranty.

General Comments:

If you want an affordable car, with a lot of standard features that are optional on other cars, this car may be the choice you are looking for.

I have only had my Nubira for 24-hours (I previously had a Nissan & had never heard of Daewoo) and have to comment on several things for those considering purchasing this car.

Safety.

Gas and brake pedals are very light to the touch, unlike Nissan. Within ten minutes, I barely took my foot off the brake at a red light and it was enough to slam into the car in front of me. Not a scratch, though I slammed, not tapped. This was the first sign this car can withstand fender-benders!

Excellent keyless entry.

Positioning of the cup holder is very safe - also convenient.

EVERYTHING is well lit. My Nissan, you couldn't see anything (except the where the speedometer is) well or at all, such as window controls, clock etc. Very convenient convenience lights over the rearview mirror.

Darker color exterior and darker color interior - be careful with twilight parking - the front defrost grate reflects too low on the dash making the hood very difficult to see against the pavement. It needs a hood reflector for parking safety. (I didn't hit anything that time, but I didn't notice the difficulty right away).

Trunk and gas tank release inside as well as a standard fuel shut off system in case of collision. Locked glove box.

Style.

Interior is sporty, yet classy, making the design flexible. Cloth seats are much better quality than Nissan.

Space and comfort.

This car will work well for people tall or short, but I wouldn't recommend it for space for anyone who likes a wide car interior feel.

The air vents are distinct because you can turn one on or off individually, not just change the direction of air - also has window vents for defogging that with the A/C, cool the car fairly quickly.

Seats are more back supportive than Nissan and comes, I think standard, with pockets (Nissan Altima doesn't have back seat pockets as standard).

Audio.

The CD package is really nice, with the ability to pre-set 21 radio stations, listen to CD cuts randomly and easily adjust functions. Lighted clock is over the rearview mirror so you don't have to turn anything on or off when you need to check the time.

The Nissan only displays the clock when the AM/FM cassette is off and is not a lighted display.

Drive.

IMO, after getting comfortable with it, it drives better than a Nissan because you have more control on turns.

Overall, with the car's warranty, I think this car beats Nissan's Altima for the money, including insurance costs.

1999 Daewoo Nubira SX Wagon DOHC from North America

Summary:

Great bargain

Faults:

I had to replace my brake fluid system, it broke at 6,000 miles. However, Daewoo paid for all of it and gave me a loaner car.

General Comments:

I like the car a lot better than the Nissan Sentra I last had. It is easy to control and drives preety well. Well worth the money.
