2000 Daewoo Nubira SE 2.0 from North America

Summary:

Excellent car for the money

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

The dealer service is great!

The car is comfortable, but the steering wheel needs to be moved forward a few inches and the cup holders are useless and get in the way.

The radio has excellent sound quality.

The fit and finish of all materials is of what you would expect to find in higher priced vehicles.

The powertrain is smooth, but the motor is loaded at higher revs.

The car came with Power Windows/Locks/Mirrors, Heated Mirrors, Tilt Wheel, Rear Defrost, Split folding back seat, Fog Lights, Keyless entry w/alarm, Adjustable Front/Rear head rests, Adjustable Drivers Seat and an Automatic Transmission with a Tach, and a Sport mode. I paid just under $13,000 for the car!!

2000 Daewoo Nubira SE 2.0 from Netherlands

Summary:

An old-timer that is falling apart

Faults:

Problem with the driver-airbag. It took 1 week to fix this.

Front left tire was worn out after 12000 km. It seemed to be a problem with the direction. I had to go back 2 times for this. I hope it is solved now.

Central door locking system was broken.

The engine really sucks fuel. It takes about 12.5 liters to get to 100km. And for this, the performance is poor.

General Comments:

The car is loaded with luxury, but it is already falling apart within 1 year. I will sell it for sure when warranty runs out.

The engine is so thirsty. Just after I bought it here in the Netherlands, consumption ratings were given to all cars on our market. From A to G, my car scored a G which is worst.

The engine is really not up to date.

2000 Daewoo Nubira CDX 2.0 from North America

Summary:

A well designed and well built bargain of driving pleasure

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

It is a pleasure to drive and the ergonomics are well designed. I have taken extended trips in very fine comfort.

Everyone who looks at it says it has a pleasing Euro look on the order of a BMW.

The Australian built engine is responsive and the auto gear shift has a boost button that really adds punch to acceleration when needed. I could go on, but all in all my Nubira makes driving fun.

My CDX is loaded with luxury features. The price is real value. The trunk is huge for its class. My son who is an engineer likes it more than his 2001 Firebird. Bottom line.

2000 Daewoo Nubira SE 1.8 from North America

Summary:

Beats the competition - at a bargain price!

Faults:

Nothing - car is running beautifully.

General Comments:

Car out-performs the Civic, Corolla and Protege, and looks better.

Very nimble handling and excellent acceleration.

Low road noise compared to the Honda and Toyota (and Ford Focus).

Nice ergonomics and it fits a tall person, unlike its competitors in this class (I don't fit into a Honda or Toyota without leaning the seat back - and Hyundai headroom sucks so much I gave up trying).

2000 Daewoo Nubira SE 1.6 from Belgium

Summary:

A tank from the 70's

Faults:

The gearbox has been replaced 2 times in less than a year. Furthermore one of the bearings of the right front wheel had to be replaced.

General Comments:

The problems I had with the car you would expect after 150.000 km and not already after 10.000 km. But what annoys me most is that for the gearbox replacement it took both times more than 2 weeks to get it fixed, and the gear is fixed under warranty, but my dealer always tries to make me pay outrageous bills for the replacement car.

Furthermore the car really feels like a tank on the road. The acceleration is really poor unless you go to 6000 rpm, but then you will become deaf from the noise. Also unpleasant surprises at the gas station. This car adores fuel.

I now have the feeling that they sold me a tank from the 70's. Zero quality, zero performance and thirsty as hell.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I have a 2000 Nubira Wagon with 18,000 miles and not a hint of trouble. I have changed the oil every 3,000 miles.. I am very satisfied with the car.

My question is, did you buy the car brand new or with some miles on it? I made sure my car came off the showroom floor. It had 17 miles on it. Not enough miles for someone to "take it for a ride".

Sorry about your poor experience. It sounds like you got a lemon. In the States you'd be getting a new car by law after that (4 weeks for same type of repair = new car under "lemon laws").

I've been REALLY happy with my acceleration but my car is probably different from the European version.

Best of luck taking care of the car, I hope this last repair is really the "last" time.

With 70,000 miles, my car still works fine, but the the timing belt needs to be changed soon (as stated in the handbook) or I'll blow the engine head. As my gearhead friends tell me???
