2000 Dodge Caravan Basic 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

A more or less, good buy

Faults:

The Caravan is quite good, due to the fact, that I have really used it. Major problems have been related to the electronic starter (!?) and the serpentine belt. Besides that, dealer service is not to the standards of quality and/or customer service.

The v-6 engine, manufactured by Mitsubishi, is quite powerful and quiet.

Parts are not cheap, nevertheless and that has been my major concern. For example the serpentine belt is about 100.00 installed. I recommend the Goodyear/Gatorback belt. It is quiet and well built.

General Comments:

To summarize, I like the Van and I plan to keep it for at least 4 more years ; but be aware, this is not a Daimler auto, is simply an average well designed American van. By the way, mine was built in Ontario, Canada.

2000 Dodge Caravan Sport SE 3.3 V6 from North America

Summary:

It's a van!

Faults:

The windows don't shut all the way resulting in some road wind noise, also the brakes grind and the dealer said that was normal?

General Comments:

Overall the van is OK. It passes other cars with some hesitation, but in all gets up and goes pretty well for a van. It has good overall space for the driver and passengers, and rides relatively nice. If your emergency brake light comes on and stays on that means you are low on brake fluid. Simply fill the reservoir under the hood and the light will go off.

2000 Dodge Caravan 3.3L from North America

Summary:

A solid vehicle for the money I paid!

Faults:

Nothing so far other than usual expected wear and tear; I am keeping my fingers crossed. I follow all regular maintenance required according to owner's manual.

General Comments:

I like the ride and the visibility of the van.

It corners well at road speeds and holds its own in traffic; I have no problem passing other vehicles when I want to.

2000 Dodge Caravan 16v from North America

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Owned the van 2 1/2 months. It's only a V4 so it doesn't have much power. Great gas milage, however.

It is VERY comfortable on trips.

Chrysler, especially the Caravans and Voyagers, have had a bad reputation with transmissions. So we are being cautious. But at the moment, it is shifting as smooth as silk!

Make sure you get the filter in the transmission changed periodically. Recommend probably every 20k, you can let it slide a little but make sure you don't forget. It will start shifting into low gear slowly.

A caravan owner.

My 2000 Dodge Caravan (4 cylinder) had the water pump go out at 50K. Upon replacing it was discovered that there had been a design modification on the tension pulley requiring a new shroud cover. Does any one know how frequently the water pumps have gone out at the 50k mile mark?

2000 Dodge Caravan Sport 3.3 liter from North America

Faults:

Oxygen sensor needed replacing 1 month after buying it. But otherwise nothing.

General Comments:

I would recommend this van to anyone. Has a great power train, roomy interior, and a great sound system, if you get the sport package. And is a better overall van than the Ford Windstar, or Chevy Venture.
