My Durango has many problems. I took it in in late April because it took too long to shift into 2nd gear. They found a problem and said it would take 1 1/2 days to fix, 36 days later after they put the wrong part in and couldn't get any gears, and then passing and overdrive went out, I got it back. After three weeks it was lunging into 2nd gear, had to take it back and fight to have it fixed. They found another problem and 23 days later I got it back. I had it for a month went on a trip 400 miles away I broke down again, too far from home though. Had to be towed back, they have it again. They had refused to put in a new transmission, but now they are. Said it would be a week, we are on week two now!

I too own a 2000 Durango with 81000 miles, and now the transmission is starting to show signs of slippage from 3 to over drive. I have been very happy and want to keep it.

I am also having transmission problems, at 90,000 miles it is slipping and gets worse during cold weather, at the shop I was told that this is a very common problem with dodge and jeep vehicles.

I also own a 2000 Dodge Durango and at 110,000 miles I had to replace the transmission, this cost me a whopping 2000.00. It runs fine now, but my locks are sounding funny when they lock on take off. I'm also worried about that wheel falling off deal.
Thanks,

I have done a lot of research on the front end of the durango, I did just have my recall done. The new Ball Joints that are put in are different than the original ones. If you keep an eye on the Ball Joints and have them inspected about once a year you should be fine. There have reported cases that the wheel have come off the vehicle, it was also found that the Ball Joints were worn severly and had not not been checked. The vehicle has to be placed up on a rack and visually checked.

I also have a 2000 Durango. Had the tranny replaced, and now every time you put it in gear, the vehicle jumps and shuts off, so I know it is the torque convertor locking up, and or the seal is bad, but why on a new transmission from Dodge?? I see several complaints of the transmission; there has to be something we all can do about this.

My wife has a 2000 Durango 5.9 2 wheel drive. We love the dang thing; 200,000 miles and only one water pump, a plug change and spark plug wires, and a wheel bearing long ago. Runs and goes like crazy. I just think it's in how some people treat their vehicles. I guess or this is an oddball and just keeps running.

My 2000 transmission seems to be slipping also. 110k miles. I took it to a shop and they could find nothing wrong, no codes. changed filters, r&r fluid and same problem.
