1999 Dodge Intrepid LX 2.7 from North America

Summary:

Very poor Quality vehicle

Faults:

I bought this car on Good Friday of 2003 in Clinton, MI. I live in Muskegon. I was on my way home and started hearing humming noises. The bearing went out and my struts went out. Two months later, the motor blew.

General Comments:

This car is a horrible investment. I regret getting this car. Something is wrong somewhere when all the 1999 Doge Intrepid cars with this motor blew after so many miles. Sounds funny to me!!!

I purchased my 1999 Dodge Intrepid on Dec 26,2003, and two days later my engine came on and it kept cutting off. My cam sensor and crank sensor had to be replaced. Six months later my engine light came on again and the car would'nt turn over, again the cam sensor had to be replaced, the next day my engine blew at 64,000 miles. I will fight this in court. I was ripped off.

I purchase my car 99 Intrepid July of 2004. The car keeps shutting off while driving down the road and when you hit a bump in the road it rattles underneath. The temp gage takes its time in escalating to the mid point of the gage. I am not happy at all with what I purchase, even though it is a used car, I expected for it to be in better condition than what it is now.

1999 Dodge Intrepid from North America

Faults:

Both driver an passenger window motor's have had to be replaced.

3 sensors in the motor/transmission have been replaced.

Trunk will not open even with key or button.

Motor with 80,000 miles is now on its way to car heaven.

General Comments:

We live paycheck to paycheck like everyone else, went into Simi Chrysler/Dodge an paid cash on a used 1999 intrepid! I love her! Chrysler/Dodge sold us an extended warranty. my motor went at 80,000 an now they are refusing to fix my car. the warranty company they sold us went bankrupt. I'm seeking some legal aid since this is all we can afford. dodge has all my money an my car sits by their dumpster every night. we all need to get in touch with each other! how dare they treat me like trash! I wasn't trash when I handed them over $18,000 cash, an my poor intrepid she's still by the dumpster. any one who wants to contact me...immaryj@aol.com.

1999 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 liter from North America

Faults:

The car started knocking at 48000 miles, and the engine had to be replaced.

The engine was replaced with a 2.7liter that I found used, and two months later the same thing happened.

General Comments:

I was told by an ex-Dodge mechanic that the 1998s and 1999s were both defective, and that the problem I experienced was through no fault of my own. The car was meticulously maintained, so I already knew that, but I found it sickening to have spent so much money on another engine just to have it go out the same way in such a short period of time.

1999 Dodge Intrepid 2.7L from North America

Summary:

Piece o crap

Faults:

Electric problems.

Steering box.

Transmission input sensor.

Anti freeze leaking from bleeder valve.

Front left wheel bearing.

Battery terminals, nice place for the battery.

Breaks caliper froze up.

Window motor problems.

Heater problems.

Battery again.

Alignment problems.

Transmission getting rough again.

Oil light coming on at idle.

Guess what comes next.

General Comments:

Worst investment of my life. I still owe about 6,000 dollars on this piece of junk. From reading other comments on this and other pages I know what comes next. Hopefully I will be able to afford to get ride of it before the engines locks up.

I also own a 93 Ford Escort. (work car) It has over 120,000 miles on it. I have done little or nothing to keep it running just normal oil changes etc. Just thought I would buy a nice sedan for the family for trips. Now it looks like we are back to the old compact thanks to dodge.

Well I guess I learned a lesson from this. Don't Buy Dodge.

If anyone has any information on how to prolong the life of my 2.7 it would be appreciated. I heard engine flush and synthetic oil might work. Also info on a class action lawsuit would be helpful. sashwhite@earthlink.net.
