2001 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.2L from North America

Summary:

An overall great car!!!

Faults:

My steering rack went at 60,800 miles, but was under dealer warranty.

My shifter cable was also bad, but it was also under dealer warranty.

General Comments:

Overall I really love this car.

The interior is very roomy and very comfortable with the black leather seats.

The infinity seven speaker sound system is excellent with the 4 disk CD changer.

The metallic black with tinted windows makes this car look sporty and fast.

I highly recommend the Intrepid ES 3.2L instead of the 2.7L because they have too many engine problems.

I recently owned a 1993 Intrepid ES and had no problems with it, even at 184,000 miles.

I bought my '01 Intrepid in 11/06. So far, so good--I hate to jinx it, but it's true. Love the way it looks-- metallic clear coat navy blue, ultra dark tint & I put 20' Voxx Manga wheels (black & chrome) and it looks very sporty. Transmission computer had to be replaced, but that was way cheaper than the tranny itself. Knock on wood, so far everything else OK. I bought it at 91,000 miles and I now just turned it over to 100,000. The 2.7 engine is OK, wish I had a bigger engine, tho. I just keep the oil changed every 3,000 and try to baby it so that I can keep it for a while longer. I love this car!! 8/07

2001 Dodge Intrepid SE 2.7 from North America

Summary:

Bring Iacocca back

Faults:

Two problems to date first the right front wheel bearing blew at 30000 miles.. warranty picked it up. second problem the oil light was coming on at idle, took it to the dealer and they told me it was the oil pump. luckily I purchased the extended warranty as I'm good on it till 75000mi..presently I have 62000miles on it now. oil light not coming on anymore. without the warranty it would have cost me 1200.00 bucks, but only shelled out the hundred dollar deductible. PHEW!!!

General Comments:

After reading the horror stories people are having from the 2.7 liter motors I wonder how much longer I have with this one. I love the cars look and ride and was hoping to keep it a few more years, but after the warranty runs out I'm debating on weather to keep it or not.. I mean lets face it.. at this day and age a well maintained motor should last around 200,000 miles...RIGHT!!!DODGE???

2001 Dodge Intrepid SE 2.7 from North America

Summary:

I Love INTREPID

Faults:

So far nothing has gone wrong with the car I bought it because I had a 96 intrepid before and it never gave me any problem.

General Comments:

This car is handles really good and it runs very good when the temperature is at normal if its cold then you don't feel the horsepower or the torque.

What does the fact that your '96 Intrepid ran flawlessly have to do with your new car? It's not the same car... and probably will die within the month..

I agree with the previous comment. your car will probably blow it's engine or transmission before 90,000 miles. mine did and within 6 weeks of each other. back to dodge it goes I am not going to put any more of my money into that crap car!

We bought a 2001 Intrepid SE from a local used car dealer. The car had been a program car, with 91,000 miles on it when we bought it.

We now have over 108,000 miles on it, with no problems. I had to replace the brake rotors because the old ones made the car shimmy when you put on the brakes (especially bad during hard braking). With the new rotors, there is no shimmy whatsoever.

This has been a good car for us. I have read reviews from one extreme to the other. Maybe we just got a good one. The small 2.7L V-6 doesn't get as good gas mileage as I thought it would, but that's true with a lot of cars.
