I have a 98 Intrepid ES that I bought used with 95,000 miles, ($4,000). It now has 165,000. Items that have been replaced are fuel pump, tires, brakes, lower shaft position sensor, some transmission sensor, timing belt, blower motor resistor, surp. belt, spark plug and one coil. The blower motor is now not working at all, fuse looks OK, resistor works fine in another car, fan works with bypass.
I still think it has been a good car, hoping I can figure out how to fix this latest problem.

I have a 99 Dodge Intrepid and the check engine light came on a couple months ago. I have finally got around to getting it diagnosed and they are telling me the TCM or transmission control module is not communicating with the main computer which is also causing the transmission to shift a little erratic like yours. I will be getting this TCM replaced this weekend so I will let you know how this comes out. Beware though, the part is $300.00 by itself and can only be purchased from Chrysler themselves.
If you don't hear back from me my email is btlfandad@live.com.

My 99 Intrepid is a single owner car (me), and I have had one major issue with it, and multiple minor ones. Currently have 88000 miles on it.
Major Issue:
Transmission needing to be rebuilt in 08 at about the 76000 mile mark.
Minor Issues:
Electrical - dome lights would come on even when car was parked and not in use. This caused the battery to drain very quickly. Ran through many batteries before I removed all the dome lights. Driving into work today and the battery light came on. Hopefully it will be the last time to replace it.
Other than that, it has been very reliable in terms of getting from point A to B, even on long trips. I can handle one major issue and some minor nagging ones, while avoiding car payments.
