Faults:

With regular maintenance, the Neon is a super car. I've had very minor problems with it since I bought it.

The door windows will leak air - but only if someone has been closing the door with the glass - if using the door itself - no problems.

I have had speaker problems with the passenger door speaker - this is the 7 rating on the dealer warranty - they fiddled with it for a day and pronounced it fixed. :) 6 months later and I'm still listening to a bit of static now and then.

My latest problem is a spark plug wire that went bad. Car was running very rough - would back-fire and sputter when you tromped on it. Replaced the wires myself with new ones and replaced the plugs with Platinum +4's and she works like a charm.

General Comments:

This car rocks! It handles very well, it's super easy on gas and accelerates about as fast as the Mustang 5.0's around town. :)

I've read the general comments about my car and honestly haven't seen any of the difficulties that people are complaining about. If you keep up a regular scheduled maintenance, the car works beautifully - the exact same as any other car you would buy today.

Faults:

When the passenger door opens the overhead light sometimes doesn't come on and the door ajar light flickers and makes a weird sound.

The knob won't stay on defrost.

General Comments:

I bought the car used off a 3 year lease from a dealer for $9,995 with 45000km, a good deal.

After I rear ended someone it still runs great and the Styrofoam bumper really helped me...

Going from 2nd to first has really good pick up.

Easy to put a system in to it providing it is a snap together.

I am going to put 17" rims on it and drop it an inch.

Faults:

The head gasket blew, and I don't want to pay $700 to fix it.

I need new brakes because the rotors are shot.

The interval wipers, radio, blinkers, and rear defroster work off and on as they please. I think it's just a loose cable running to the radio, and if that gets hooked up, it will work fine again.

General Comments:

The car is a 5-speed, and it's a lot of fun to drive.

For it being a Neon, it's rather quick. It hangs in there with a lot of Japanese cars.

It's a good car for a teenager, because you can add performance parts to make it fast, and add a lot accessories to make them look nice.

Faults:

Front driver-side axle replaced.

General Comments:

I can't sell this car. Nobody will touch it because the head gasket hasn't gone yet. Everyone knows the head gaskets are bad in the Neons and it's a $1000+ job.

Faults:

Check engine light came on after I drove through a deep puddle. After my Neon dried out, I disconnected the battery. The light has stayed off since. So nothing has really gone wrong with my car.

General Comments:

I challenge anyone to find a cheaper, more fun-to-drive, higher performance car than the Neon. For $19,000 new you could get 10 more horses in a Honda Civic Si, and that's about 12,000 more than I paid for my Neon. Sure, Honda's and Accura's are more refined, but the Neon is pure fun to drive and has a rev-happy engine. Even if you do have to replace the head gasket, you still have a much cheaper car than a Civic.

Overall, excellent engine performance.

The suspension is the perfect balance between ride comfort and corner handling.

I highly recommend this car to anyone who cannot afford a Viper. If you do like a smooth, comfortable ride, not feeling any bumps, you might need a bigger car.

If you are looking for a Neon, avoid the automatic transmission. They are built stronger, but are slower accelerating.
