I own a 1997 Dodge SLT extra cab 5.9L 1500 ram. the only thing I have done to it is put gas in it and change the oil (mobil 1 10W30) I don't have high oil consumption, one quart between 6000 miles. oil changes. I have over 70,000 miles on the ram and I LOVE IT!
Looking forward to buying a new ram 2500 with the cummins!

Hi, I have had my 1999 Quad cab Ram for about a year, I love it. But I am having a problem, between 40 and 50 it will hesitate, and also off the line it will do the same thing. I would like to know if any one else has had this problem. If you could write back my E-Mail address is Nickrn23@aol.com. Thanks Nick.

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab bought brand new. Thumping sound when moving forward from dead stop since new. Dealer said it was drive-shaft and was normal. OK? 40K leaking coolant from thermostat housing. Around 60K developed spark knock and decreased power. Has turning radius of aircraft carrier, real pain to park. Never again.

I own a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab. I thought nothing could be as bad as the Ford F-150 we previously had yet the Ram beats it in problems hands down. With only 30K easy miles, I'm on my third set of front brakes, third steering column intermediate shaft, have continual ABS problems, coolant leaks that no one can find including the dealer. The worst of it all being that the dealer and factory could care less. At least Ford tried to fix all the problems.

I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 quad cab that I bought used. Within the first the first month I found out it used oil. I do not see smoke, so I cannot say where the oil is going. I also smell antifreeze after a drive. The cup holder is broke, and the compact disk player quit, but the big thing is spark knock! What can I do?

We have a 1999 Dodge Quad cab, 1500 is nothing but trouble! We do not over work our truck. We maintain it like it should be.
MOST trouble we have is getting the dealer to work on it. We are the first and only owners & have an extended Warranty. The dealers make you wait for a month or 2 until they have an appointment open. THEN they don't repair the problems! WHAT a NIGHTMARE! We even had the service mgr. tell us just to sell it and buy a new one!... we have only 83,000 miles on it!
The vehicle is still very pretty, only it is a mechanical nightmare.. if the computer doesn't show a code.. they can't fix it! WE will never buy another DODGE!...

I own a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500, and have had the transmission repaired twice before the first year of ownership. The first time I couldn't leave my driveway to go pick up my daughter from school, all I could do is watch my truck be towed to the dealer that I bought it from. The second time {less than 30 days later) it went out on me, we were 1 hour from our destiny, and were 4 hours away from home. This time it was in the dark, I had 2 small children with me and pulling a trailer.. Once again I watched my Dodge be hauled off to the nearest dealer, in the dark, not knowing how I was going to get in either direction with a trailer, and children. This time I was a little hot over the whole situation. Dodge does not have loaner cars or reimbursement for rentals. I had to rent a UHaul, to pull the trailer and then rent a car to conduct my business that requires me to travel. Each dealer that worked on the transmission blamed the other for the transmission problems, and then deny that they said anything about the other when it comes time to get DaimlerChyrsler involved.
I have had a noise in the rear end since I bought it. I took it to the dealer that I bought it from, to have it looked at and they replace the ball joints on the front of the truck??? I've had other mechanics from the private sector able to tell me what the problem is, but a dealer mechanic can't find the noise.
All of these experiences have made me feel like Dodge does not put there money where their mouth is and back up their product. They don't won't to go the extra mile, to help with car rental reimbursement for their defective workmanship, or to admit that there is a problem. What really eats at me, is this is the most I have ever paid for a vehicle, because it was suppose to be a work horse.
One thing has come out of this, the decision that I will not buy another Dodge product ever.
P.S. My cd player has also gone out and I'm not done paying for the truck yet.
