I believe the Mega Cab is on a heavier chassis, even though it is considered 1500. The wheel base is longer also. This may be why the fuel mileage is different. My 1500 weighs 5,700 lbs empty with no driver. Not sure if that helps.

I bought another one! I traded in this 2006 Ram Quad Cab with 83,000 miles, and no trouble. I liked it so much, I now have my 3rd Ram 1500. I picked up a 2011 Ram 1500 Quad Cab. I got a great trade in price on the 2006, and I got 20% off MSRP on the new 2011 truck. Probably could have gotten 25% off, but I did not push for it. I test drove a comparable 2011 GMC 5.3L just to be sure. I like the looks of the GMC also, but the Dodge is much better ride, and the 5.7 Hemi just can't be beat.

I purchased my Dodge Ram in October of 2006. So far I have 45,000 miles on it.
The only problem that I've had with the truck is the blend door that moves the vents broke. This happened before I had 15,000 miles on the vehicle, so fortunately it was covered under warranty and I was told it was replaced with a much better part, and so far I haven't had any recurrences of that problem.
I have a mega cab, and the room is unbelievable.
My biggest complaint about this vehicle is the A/C. For such a big cab the A/C blower is weak, and in the desert where I live, when it gets over 100 degrees, I just can't drive it during the day, because it takes at least 10 minutes to start cooling the cab down.
Other than this, I believe this Dodge is one of the best trucks out there. I do two backcountry trips a year on a pretty rough dirt road, and this truck just handles it with ease.
And also I don't get the same gas mileage as the two previous comments. Only 10 city and 13 highway, so I wonder why I can't get better mileage.
