I'm wondering if you needed a new head gasket or an actual new head for your car?
If your car runs that rough and stalls, it means that something is wrong. You can get the engine fault codes by turning the ignition key from "off" to "run" to "off," etc. five times (without turning the key far enough to start the car). Leave the key in the run position at the end of the sequence, and the "check engine" light will start to flash. Counting the flashes will tell you what sensors are bad, etc. The code charts are in the Haynes maintenance books (your library should have them). Or pay someone to check your car out. Your car's poor performance could be caused by the same thing that's causing it to stall.

Number one, your Honda Civic will NOT pick up faster than the Shadow 2.2, try adjusting the throttle cable. If it stalls, try putting in some fuel injector cleaner, and for you saying that the Shadow is an ugly car, get rid of it. If you don't like it so much and all you do is complain about how ugly it is, don't buy another one. If you haven't already figured it out, when someone gives a bad review about a Shadow, there will be at least 3 comments about how much that person is dead wrong. Sorry to say it but you are seeming to be one of those people.

Your dead wrong, I admit these cars aren't the best cars, but it has been nothing but hardworking, all cars have break downs and these cars aren't excluded, but have alittle more devotion to your shadow its keeping you from walking. And the performance is great if you maintain it, and the a/c aint bad at all.

The car stalls and dies and you've done nothing about it? Try maintaining your car. If you don't do that, any car will break down on you. Just wait and give your bad maintenance habits some time to manifest themselves on your Honda, and it will do the same thing.
And if it looks ugly, why did you buy it? Seriously, come on. Sounds to me like someone read Consumer Reports and came down with a case of buyer's remorse.

Personally I am of the direct opposite opinion of this post. I HATE Hondas! My Shadow is 16 years old and has 189000 miles but is still running on the same original engine and transmission as what was in it when it was originally bought. Sure I have had issues, radiator needed to be RPL but it was a $40 part. Not to mention it was so easy to do myself. I also find the interior of this car and the seats to be a lot more roomy and comfortable than any Honda I have been in. This car does require regular maintenance though or yes it will run horribly. I have found for the most part that once the car is properly maintained and repaired they are very reliable and surprisingly sporty. I love pulling up at a light next to Honda drivers and they have no idea what is coming. The Shad may weigh more than a Honda but with the 2.5 L engine you cannot tell! I can blow the doors off of most any other stock vehicle out there. I am planning on upgrading and modding this car and from what I have seen it has the potential to get a little over 300 HP. Couple that with the wide body stance and the fact it still weighs less than 2 tons and it will go go go! I am sorry your car has not treated you so well. I hope you are able to address the issues with it and get it running properly though. I feel once you do you will change your tune. Or at least I hope so.

Are you kidding? With these models unusually accurate and precise steering, coupled with some decent performance tires, you've got a decent performer. Maybe a go-cart would be more suited to your tastes.
