I bought my Dodge Stratus from a car auction in Halifax last year, little did I know about cars! Ever since the day I got it, All I have been doing is fixing it. I didn't mind the fixing regular things that I had to do to make sure that it was safe to drive, and that cost me about a 1000 dollars to get done. It was when it really started to act up when I got fed up. It kept getting stuck in first gear, sometimes I'd be driving down the road and all of a sudden it just went right back down to first or second gear, and it's an automatic. I took it to the transmission shop and it ran great for almost 2 months and started to act up again (it cost me 1350 dollars to fix that problem). I'm telling ya, I think buying that car was the biggest mistake I ever made, seems like it'll be parked outside for a really long time, what a waste of car money I wish I knew what I was getting myself into!

My 95' Stratus ES has had the brakes replaced three times in four years. I am not hard on the brakes, but now I think it may just be a flaw in the car. Just recently, my brakes started making a horrible binding noise on some occasions, but not consistently, until they actually went out while I was going down a hill! I luckily pulled my ebrake and made it into a nearby parking lot. The mechanic said I needed the back brakes replaced and a new master cylinder and four hundred dollars later, I am not convinced that the brake problem is fixed. What exactly are the problems with the brakes on the other 95' stratus'?

I got my stratus about 3 years ago. It was a great car until I started to get all the problems. First thing was the air conditioner. Second thing the ABS quick working. Third thing I have a leak in the transmission it leaks both transmission fluid and oil, picks and chooses which to leak out. sometimes I have no oil other times I have no transmission fluid. It is believed the computer is going out not for sure or a sensor (don't remember the name) (temp. sensor has been replaced) I have had to replace both brake compressors on the back wheels. I was going around a curve when I car decided not to have brakes. The e-brake did not even work. My dash lights sometimes don't work. The transmission slips. The car will jerk and die. accelerates slow. It will die sometimes 5-8 times after starting or even while driving. Sometimes it won't die for a week. I like the car a lot, but I don't like all the problems that have come with it.

Also the cars dings. Sometimes it will not stop dinging other times it doesn't ding at all or it will ding 3 times. That is mostly when I hit a bump Such as a pot hole or I'm going over rail road tracks sometimes it is when I turn a corner. The back passenger door will only open from the outside (no it is not the child lock). I just remembered these other problems thought you should know. I own a 95 stratus es v6 2.4 cylinder.

I bought my Dodge Stratus, ES Package, about 1 year and 5 months ago. The car runs great, but I have had countless problems with the brakes in it. I have replaced at least 2000 Dollars worth of stuff on my car. I have never been late on an oil change, and I take very good care of my car! I will say, this car has kind of disappointed me to a point, but I have kept putting money into it. I love this car so much though, she is my baby!! The tranny has not given me any problems at all!!
