2001 Fiat Punto Sporting 1.2 16v from UK and Ireland
Summary:
The Italians know how to design a car. Period
Faults:
Nothing.
General Comments:
What can say? A real babe puller!!! I've got the broom yellow, and boy does it stand out, a real head turner.
For a 1.2 16V that produces 86 BHP, that's brill! It pushes you right back in your seat, and as you keep your foot down longer it still keeps going. But be careful, I'm paying a lot on insurance, due to my age - 19.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

It's a group 7 insurance (equivalent of a new Honda Civic) so it's going to be high for someone that young.
As it's a bit of "boy racer/babe puller" style it's bound to attract higher premiums. Just like the 1980's Fiesta XR3i!!
Don't be swayed by the engine size, insurance companies look at more than that.

Group 7 for a 1.2 is a disgrace, I got a 1.6 ibiza sport and it is group 7 and will trash the punto also you say your car is reliable and you have only done 100 miles.

I have a Punto 1.2 sporting 2001 - yellow!. Insurance is very high despite 13 years of accident free driving. I am 32!! Great car, but not with out problems. Gearbox - 4th and 5th gears failed at 19,000 miles - all fixed under warranty. The same air-con flexi pipe has broken twice. I Still like the car despite all! Great fun to drive and enough poke to raise a smile for such a small engine. Very good around corners. Fiat need to sort out all the small faults - bits that rattle and creak Etc. No excuse for a gearbox baulk rings failing at such a low mileage. Smart wash windscreen wash/wipe has also gone wrong twice. All fixed under warranty though.

How can your insurance be high on a 1.2? The group is not that high is it?
You must have crashed or something already!
