1999 Ford Cougar 24v 2.5 from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Brings a smile to my face every time
Faults:
Stuck switch on the dash computer.
Rear wash wipe switch is broken.
Exhaust catalyst replaced due to excess noise.
General Comments:
Deciding to purchase this car was a big decision for someone who previously owned a turbo diesel for the previous four years. But buy it I did, and love it I do.
Had a few niggles, but most covered by the dealer's warranty. Ride is smooth and very grippy, acceleration fantastic and although I have the cloth seat version I personally find it very comfortable. The dash and instruments are very cleverly designed, but I have had problem's with the view of the speedometer in respect to the height adjustment of the steering wheel, this could be down to stumpy legs of course.
A big surprise to me was the fuel consumption, I expected it to be poor, but seems with careful driving to be moderate to good.
Overall I would definitely recommend this car, but new, at full retail price?
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Your view of the Cougar is spot on mate. A little room in the back is fine, as I sit in the front most of the time!
As for people who think the cougar is sloppy on twisty roads; well they might just not be drivers in the true sense, and should remember the car is big and heavy as far as sports cars go.
I have owned my Cougar for 6 months now, and I'm over the moon with how it drives and looks; it always makes me smile.
