I wedged the motor towards the driver's side and then I had enough room to remove the bolt...

About the car jerking. My Mamma's 99 Taurus did that. Turned out it was a bad speed sensor.

Well said. It's funny how the vibration goes away when it's in neutral. I've tried replacing air lines, PCV valves, and doing various fluid changes. Just when I think I've got it, back come the bad vibrations. 2002 ZX2.

2002 ZX2. It does not have an EGR system. New motor mounts from eBay around 50 bucks. 2 on top, 2 on the bottom. Bottom ones suck. Need to remove the battery box for access to the transmission mount. While there, remove the IAC and clean. They are a hundred dollars or more. 2, 8 mm bolts the gasket is; figure 8 o-rings. It's behind the engine, driver's side. Make sure you replace the heavy balancers correctly. You'll see. They are on the top mounts. A lot smoother, but still shakes the steering wheel in drive. New platinum plugs and wires too. 2 plugs had broken insulators when removed. 50000 miles. I'm done screwing around. Time to drive it. Just use neutral at the stop light if it bugs you. Only kinda bad in drive. Smooth in reverse and park. Runs great. Great mileage. Fun. PS, you need muscle power to crack the mount nuts loose.

So I have of course a Ford Escort 2002 ZX2, and it jerks sometimes. It jerked back today, then acted like it didn't want to speed up over 30 miles per hour. I got kinda worried and took the car to Advance Auto. The man said I may need transmission oil. He checked and my fluid was good. The car works okay now, but I'm wondering if anyone else had this problem, and if it's the start of something big, or something not to worry about?
