I agree with the comments above, 0 - 60 in 6.2 at 125bhp, is not possible. My mates RS Focus chipped to 260bhp, hit about 6 seconds, possibly 5.9.
However I will say, I have a GTi with K&N filter, plus different throttle body, I've timed it and can say 0 - 60 about 7.4. I do have video proof of this, but to be honest, I couldn't care less, LOL. I don't need to prove how fast or slow a car is to anyone.
Yes I do get the racers tear up behind me, when they see a GTi badge, but I just pull over, do me a favour boys, save it for the race track.

Why are Saxo drivers on here leaving comments. They have obviously been over taken by an Escort GTi and come on here to see why...

HELP.
People of the blue oval, my GTi has been doing some crazy old stuff. Any suggestions? The fuel gauge goes backwards and it cuts out. Please, any ideas, williamjpickering@hotmail.com

LOL, the Escort vs Saxo has been going on for years now. I have a GTi and it's nice and nippy, looks great and has a smooth ride, plus the ladies love the leather inside. I'm now starting to add big components to the engine and have debadged it for the element of surprise :-D.
My mate took me in his RS2000 and it's crazy how much difference in that. It hit 140 in no time and still going up and this was standard, I need me one of them LOL!
p.s. Saxos look crap, ha ha!

God, I left a Ford Escort GTi in my Renault 19 16V Executive 3d.
And my car is getting on now, and if you are going on about tuned cars, make sure the other car is tuned as well, or what's the point?.

Hi all, just bought my first GTI. Been driving Land Rovers for years so its all new to me. Seen loads of stuff that says the GTI had loads of extras including ABS. Mine appears to have drums on the rear. ABS on drums!!!

Right, I'm not being funny, but who cares about Saxos. If I wanted to read about them, then I'd have searched for them on Google, not the Escort GTi.
I'm not gonna slate Saxos, cos I can't be bothered, but I'm 23 now, not 17, I don't want a Saxo. So what if they're a bit nippier, they weigh less, what do you expect?!!! I've just test driven a GTi, it had a massive stainless steel back-box on it; I take it this isn't standard?
IMO, no way standard can get 0-60 in under 8 seconds, be lucky if it's 10 seconds, seeing as they're 11 years old. But so what, they're still nippy enough and look nice. I got insured for £800, with 0 NCB. Here's a tip, put an older named driver on; with my Dad on, it knocked £300 off. Get on elephant.co.uk.
There's 128,000 miles on this Escort, are there any major problems I should watch out for? How many miles do you generally get out of one til they go? Cheers.

I just got an awesome insurance quote on mine. I'm nearly 21 and I'm paying £435 for the year.
I agree with the Saxo comment, why do Saxo drivers keep writing on a Escort page? And BTW my GTi clocked just rolled over, and it's still going strong, but once the engine goes, I'm gonna get something beefier put under the hood cause I love my Escort!!
Does anyone know where to get the twin headlights for this model with electric adjust for under £340?

My GTi is like the fastest thing ever, I can get 150+ out of it easily and it's standard!
Saxos are nothing compared to the GTi. My mate has a VTS and he's like a dot in my mirror all the time! Think Ford should have called it the Subaru killa!
Cossie performance for under 2 grand.
It's comments like this, then you get all that crap. If people want to see how fast a car is, take it on the track.

Hi, just bought an Escort GTi 5dr with 90k on the clock, it's a very clean car but I have a real bad flat spot about 4000 - 5000 rpm that it does drive through eventually, any body got any suggestions? It's got new Ford plugs/leads and idle valve. HELP PLEASE.

Hi, I bought a GTi for my first car, and loved it to bits. Had 107000 on the clock and was quick and very reliable. Had 2 new tyres and both wishbone arms replaced because these are very common to go.
I then had a race with a Saxo and lost, but the Saxo was suped up and killed me. That ****** me off so I sold it and bought an RS Turbo, which killed Scoobys and didn't bother racing Saxos cos what's the point.
I then sold the RS Turbo and got another GTi cos they're such amazing cars for the money. I can confirm it will do 0-60 in under 9 seconds.
And as for Saxos, they're not fast, they just feel fast cos they're low and small. If you drive a Saxo at 70 on a motorway you feel like you're gonna take off, but drive a GTi at 80 on a motorway and it's smooth and cruises great. It's not a slow car, it just feels it cos its heavy.
Overall it's the best car I have owned, and don't no what will replace it, cos I love it and recommend it to anyone. Saxo owners just can't afford them.
P.s my revs are sticking all of a sudden. It revs high when I stop. Anyone got any ideas what it is?

FAIR PLAY MATE!!! I just got a Viper induction kit for mine, but where the heck am I gonna put that air intake ring? Have you ever looked on the inside of the bumper, there's hardly any room, especially when there's a little A/C bottle in the way, and the Pipercross recommends its 50 cm from the floor, making the ring to be placed somewhere under the headlight or along there. Anyone have any ideas, really want to put this induction kit to its full potential, and don't understand why if this kit was made for my car, they add it in???

An RS Turbo would not kill Scoobys standard. End of, and again if you tuned a Subaru Impreza, it would be a lot faster than your RS Turbo.

0-60 in 6.2, I highly doubt it. I had an Escort GTi and that seemed to take ages to get to 60. I now have a gti6 and that's only 7.2. Unless you're going for the rolling road time, which you have no friction on the road etc.
